osirisX
Before I start I'll say I've only ever owned more than one computer at a time so I've never needed to do networking before. I now own a Netbook and want it to appear in the sidebar in Finder so I can browse folders and stuff. I can share specific folders from the Mac to the Netbook by entering a local address like 192.168.1.5, but that seems to change every so often (today it seems to be set to 192.168.1.6). What I need help with is getting the Netbook to show up in Finder as a shared computer and getting folders from the Mac to be more reliably connected to the Netbook. This is what my network looks like:
PNWDweller
You should log into your eepc and set it's IP address to a fixed one that way your Router won't auto assign a changing one to it. From there, you can drag/drop your root folder or desired folder to the left side bar to always access that folder.
