When's the MBP being updated next?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I know this sort of thread is annoying, but I've got the money ready to get myself a MBP, but want to know when it's being updated next, so I can pounce on it as soon as it comes out!

Any ideas?

I don't think it will be before Christmas now. They only updated it in June 2009. The earliest would most likely be January 2010 with spec bumps such as a bigger hard-drive and more ram, so that it doesn't clash with the new MacBook. Though with the new 27" iMac supporting the Core i5/i7 processors, the 17" MacBook Pro could be updated to use them. Don't think the 13" or 15" would get the new processors yet.

However, with it being Apple you just don't know what they have in the works. If you need a laptop now, I'd go for the MacBook Pro at its current configuration as it doesn't disappoint. However if you don't wait :).

Chris.

Thanks for the link Jambo! Very useful.

I'm in no rush for it, so I will wait until the new revision comes out :)

Wish there was some way I could be alerted when it happens, so I don't have to keep checking!

can they get updated with some better ****ing resolutions please!!! :(

You don't want that, trust me. I just got a 17" MacBook Pro, and even that at it's 133PPI is nigh unreadable. Until Apple catches up to Microsoft and implements a system-wide DPI setting, their current notebook resolutions are really the highest that anyone not trying to purposely go blind should be allowed to use. Maybe a 1600x1050 upgrade on the 15". Maybe.

1680x1050 on a 15" is exactly what i want.. or maybe a 13" with 1440x900

to be fair though, what i really want is just a pretty macbook pro with some other operating system... ;)

Yeah hah, I can read my 17" perfectly fine.

Granted it takes some getting used to, but that's the same for every monitor really. Now it's great, love all the space!

rumor is the i5/i7 are going into the mbp early next yr.

im returning my mbp and waiting the few months to get a better processor.

I would actually laugh if they're not refreshed early next year and you're kept waiting.

Would you buy a car, then return it as you've "heard" there might be a newer model coming at some point in the future (which, like macbooks, is guaranteed with cars?).

Absolutely ridiculous.

That said, your money... do as you wish :D

actually , i would wait even longer for the car. a car is worth way more than a laptop and a huge investment.

but i get what your saying. but im not going to spend 2k$ on a laptop that in a month is going to have i7/i5 processors...who wouldn't want a i7 proccessor in the mbp?

That is a ridiculous statement. The current 17" MacBook Pro screens boast 133PPI. That is near double the 72DPI density at which OS X was designed to be comfortably viewable. It's time for Apple to catch the **** up to technology. Their resolution independence bologna has been "coming" to OS X for the past 3 major versions.
