Xero
Alright so I need some help on this one. I want to get my brother a great gift for his birthday. He's a big fan of World of Warcraft so I figured something related to that would be perfect. However.. I've never played the game before and haven't a clue what would be beneficial to someone who plays it. It could be hardware or something in-game. I know some stuff requires to be purchased in-game as he's used my credit card many times without asking. So any Warcraft fans out there. What would make a good gift for someone who plays WoW entirely too much? :D

+SOOPRcow MVC Posted October 27, 2009 MVC Share Posted October 27, 2009 FYI, nothing in game requires you to use a credit card to purchase it. He may be buying gold but that can be kind of risky.

There's really nothing legit that you can buy him in-game, that I can think of.
Xero
Thanks for the link to the store, anything specifically on it that someone would like? And I know one thing he asked for was about switching worlds. I know that costs something which I thought was bs :p
Prosidius
A server transfer? Yeah it's $25.

I know that costs something which I thought was bs :p Yeah, but that's done from his account page, and he'd have to pick right then where he wants to go. So basically you'd just be handing him $25. macrosslover
honestly get him something that's going to maybe get him off that game finally. it's like crack, you know it's bad for you but no matter how many times you may want to quit you just can't force yourself to do it. Best WoW gift ever is Figureprints Indeed. Pricey though.
Xero
lol, yes I've tried many times to get him to quit but no such luck. I realize I'm probably fuelling the fire here but he's still young. He can waste a little bit more of his life

This isn't true at all Spookie, I've been using the mouse for about four months. I love it to death, and it's not cheap anymore, they've really over hauled it's design. ---- Http://jinx.com find out his class/allegiance in game. Get him a t-shirt? dead.cell
How old is he exactly? Oh, ideas! Guitar. Drumset. Something that can actually give him "skills" early on in life. Posters of girls maybe so he can remember what exactly it is he wants in life. :p If anything though, I'd avoid WoW toys. Just... yeah. Avoid. :x As for that mouse, I'd probably avoid that too, as Minifig is the first person I've seen that's actually quite positive about the mouse... Everyone else seems to feel differently from what I've seen.
Xero
 I know he has a guitar, *sigh* 2.. And 16. Is there anything he can use vs. a toy of his character/poster. I suppose I could get him a bag of pot but that's probably not the best idea I've had :/ When's that new expansion out?

winrez
I would go to the local card shop they have wow playing cards kinda like pokemon (both i think are pretty lame but) in the packs of cards they sell they have "loot cards" which most card places sell seperate for like $5 what the card does is it has a code you enter in inside of wow and it gives you a extra like a party bomb when its launched all people that are a certain distance from you will start dancing like idiots (they have about 10 different things you can get from the cards)
the evn show
Figureprints Indeed. Pricey though. Another vote for this. My girlfriend got me one a year ago and it's pretty damn cool. I quit the game a long time ago - my guild had beaten all of the content and there was nothing left to do. It's nice to have a little doll of my character on my desk at work to remind me of the fun times I had with that game. Clients often point it out when they come in for meetings: "Oh, you have a priest? I play a shaman?" With 13+ million players you're more likely to encounter somebody that plays warcraft than saw last nights episode of <pick a tv show>, so it's a good conversation piece. The only problem: they base the statue on your in game character, so you can't have one in "mighty dragon slayer armour" when you're still running around in "lowly goat-herder cloth". It puts a bit of stress on you trying to complete an armour set so that your statue looks cool. For that reason you might not want to do that if he's one of those 'plays way too much as it is' kind of people.
Madoshi
i don't usually condone or support the playing of WoW but... ...something i have asked my Warcraft-playing mates is how they manage to control so many functions they made it sound like a high end multibutton "gaming" mouse is essential, and the more expensive it is the better it is for WoW. i looked at him weird. neither am i a supporter of mice that function like mini-universal remote controls that and keyboards that have extra programmable function keys, that cost big $$ as well but... find out what kind of mouse and keyboard he uses, and consider getting him an upgrade

systemX
1. Pay for his subscription for 1 year. 2. Get a reload card for a few months if the above is overkill. 3. A new expansion is coming out, pre-order that for him maybe when its possible? Hope this helps :)
