#Michael
Let me say that logmein rocks on windows but the version for os x sucks. I need a good vnc client for mac. Something that connects seamlessly between a mbp and a windows computer. Any suggestions?
deactivated_
Enabling Screen Sharing on the mac will allow you to VNC into the computer from a Windows machine. No need to install any extra software. System Preferences > Sharing. Enable Screen Sharing and then click Computer Settings to edit the VNC options. Quick and easy. No extra stuff needed. Elliott
OS X has a Screen Sharing application already. If you just do vnc://hostname-or-ip-address-of-remote-system-here in your Safari address bar, it'll launch the Screen Sharing application, granted that some other application hasn't taken over the VNC protocol on your computer. If something else launches, you can always go to /System/Library/CoreServices/ on your computer and open up the Screen Sharing application from there. That's all well and good if it's on my home network but what if I want to remote into my work computer? See work doesn't think I am high enough on the food chain to warrant actual vpn access. But as the IT tech lead for my account I am always called at home for issues and need to remote into my work computer to resolve issues. So my boss and IT allowed my to put logmein on my machine for access. But logmein for mac sucks.

I know you don't have any power over this, and I'm just gonna ramble, but you're not high enough on the food chain for VPN access? What does IT think is so special about VPN access? If I were IT, I'd almost prefer you use VPN access to using LogMeIn. At least that's traceable at one root location.

I have been told that it is for department managers and above only....tech leads aren't entitled to it. And yet I am expected to be on call and need to have access to remote tools.....seems stupid. What I would like is both have logmein stay running so that when I use my desktop which runs win7 that will work just fine and then when I use my mbp with some sort of vnc client that will also work. I just need something that will work.

You can read up on how LogMeIn works here: https://secure.logmein.com/documentation/Se...mi_security.pdf. You basically never have a direct connection to your computer like you do with VNC. It's all forwarded through LogMeIn's gateway. If the LogMeIn client on OS X is that bad, you could always do a "double hop" by running a VNC server on your Windows 7 home desktop (if I understood what you said right). Then, you can just connect to your Windows 7 desktop with VNC from your MBP, and use the LogMeIn client on your Windows 7 desktop to connect to your work computer. That's alot to go though.....I could just do parallels or boot camp win7 for when I need to do that...although it would just be nice if logmein got off their ass and actually upgraded their os x client.
