Your Game Ideas

Recommended Posts

This is a topic to express the creativity of the gaming community. I have always thought of many games that I have wanted to create, and hopefully will be able to in the coming years if I can get a foothold into the gaming industry. But that is beside the point. What are the games you guys have wanted to play?

Mine:

I personally want an MMO Mecha game with similar structure to EVE. A game where you can trasnport and move things, hire mercenary mech squads for defense or join the military in an all out war. The mechs would have a similar customization layout to either Mechwarrior or more preferably Chromehounds. Other vehicles and even your foot soldier would have similar customization and all play a key role in the MMO world. That is, in my opinion, a badass game.

Anything that can grab me emotionally like movies/tv shows do, so usually adventure or story based games.

I'm putting a ton of onus on Heavy Rain being something special, I'll be so disappointed if it isn't, but that game seems like something I want to be made - A game aimed at actual adults, not an "adult themed" game which appeals more to teenagers.

The Last Guardian also deals in a concept that intrigues me, no speech/talking/voice acting, emotions in a game shown completely through other means. ICO and SOTC managed it, so I'm sure it will again manage to put me through 8-12 hours without a spoken word and still make feel more emotions than most run of the mill games.

Sadly adventure/story based titles don't tend to sell THAT well, but if I had the backing to make a game I'd completely ignore multiplayer and focus on creating an awesome script/characters... then only consider multiplayer if it fits.

Long live awesome SP games :p I've just finished Uncharted 2, it was a blast, an example of a 'Hollywood' inspired storyline gone right.

an all out mega brawler, 3rd person view, huge open worlds, featuring all our favorite characters from all our best games. I mean, a huge mega-conglamo game. You could be mario with a hammer chasing after sonic whos running fast. Just imagine a game with hundreds of characters, with all their skills and abilities somehow equaled out and available to use against each other.... always seemed like a good idea, just would involve waaay too much work and cooperation between companies lol.

@Audio - Yeah, I really would like another story based game I can play 100's of times over again. Halo, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, etc. I could play those games over and over again. Dunno why but today a campaign games only keep me interestined for about 2-5 play throughs.

@shakey - there is a 2D pixel brawler which has almost every character you can think of being made for the PC. And best of all, its free. Master Chief, FF characters, Chrono Crusade characters, Bleach, Chi from Chobits, etc.

Lol, yeah. My plan was to make a tournament bracket and then let the PC's fight it out on the highest setting. Did it with Burst limit twice, first win was SS2 Gohan, second win was Nappa.

I can't wait for Dues Ex 3 actually. I really love urban post-modern environments.

It's what I thought was great from Final Fantasy 7, and what I was really disappointed to see Square drop from newer FF's - They went all "fantasy" (I know the irony in that statement :p), now they're obsessed with Sci-Fi.

Seeing the glimpses of FF13 Versus got me really excited that they're abandoning or toning down all that overdone airship/cities in the sky nonsense, and are going to create something as dark and urban as FF7.

Hey neighbor, we are on the same boat... well, as long as Dues Ex 3 is more like 1 than 2 :p

I'm solely a multiplayer gamer, both MMO's and twitch/ping based games. So greater focus on mp would be a good start to me :D

But what I would really like to see are some MMO's that offer the players greater interaction and influence on the game world, rather than the 'look but don't touch' themepark style mmo's we have today (you know which ones!). UO started out with a similar idea, but every popular MMO since has been based on Everquest!

I would also like to play a proper MMOFPS, something essentially like a typical FPS but with hundreds of players on the server, and rounds could take days or weeks to complete (anyone played planetside?).

I think the biggest problem is many equate 'MMO' with 'grinding'. But it doesn't have to be this way! All an MMO requires is a massive number of players, the gameplay itself can be as different as you like.
