null_
Im trying to make a shortcut that for a certain user account on my machine at logon will open Internet Explorer in kiosk mode. The only problem is, I cannot get it to load the page I want. Example: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -kiosk https://www.neowin.net is what I have it set to, but it gives me a 404 error. Can someone please help me on this? Thank you. hurting101
Use -k instead of -koisk: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -k http://neowin.net

Grunt
whats kiosk mode?
flakingbiscuit
whats kiosk mode? try it out. you can exit the mode by pressing ALT+F4. What it does is makes the website that you typed in full screen, but with no toolbars. It just makes Neowin.net take over your computer screen... and there's nothing wrong with that :)

Sushubh
Really, does not make my work easier. Opera does the job much better. Just press F11 and you are on.
null_
Sushubh: F11 still allows access to the taskbar and the close button; whereas kiosk mode really doesn't.
Sierra
I customized the IE toolbar and added full screen, so kiosk can be used when needed

F11 in opera turns it into kiosk mode and pressing it agaib brings it back to normal. Simpler than IE? eh!

Dude, kiosk mode in IE locks out the common user from the toolbar, meant for lobbies and things like that. Not the same thing in Opera. IE also has a full-screen mode which works exactly the same way as Opera, BTW, just as easy and it's the same button.

Sushubh
Exactly! And that's one of the features of IE I like more than Opera. I dont get you. To get a full screen view of a web page i.e. the kiosk mode,.... In Opera: you press F11 In IE: you create a short cut for everywebsite you want to access on full screen And u call this a great feature of IE!? BTw, what do u mean by lobbies? I am confused what we are talking abt!

Sushubh
but it shows the toolbar with it... not a genuine full screen!!! Opera is a full Screen version without any toolbar... Its already discussed above!

Angel Blue01
Full screen (F11) and kiosk mode in IE are not the same thing! I like Fullscreen because I can get back easily, have easy access to the toolbar/whatever bar, which can be easily set to autohide.
AshUK
I see people are confused about the difference between Kiosk mode and Fullscreen, Fullscreen is only temporary but in librarys or somewhere where they dont want you to access windows, they use Kiosk mode and use a simple keyboard without windows keys and F keys
Angel Blue01
Exactly what I meant. I've also seen some ads and my ISP's installation program that use Kiosk mode.
