backdrifter
I have a simple question, are PC games generally playable with a regular gamepad (with analogue sticks)? The games I play right now are GTA4, Grid and Bioshock. To be able to play these is important but I also want to know if recent games support gamepads generally. hotdog666al
Depends on the game. Most console ports work, for example Devil May Cry 4. I presume GTA4 and Bioshock will work, as they were released on consoles too.
mad_onion
yeah, just get a wired xbox 360 controller and that will work with most pc games, in fact in some games it even changes the menu to show A,B,X,Y etc.
Draken
^ that or a wireless one with a receiver, simply the best gamepad out there.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted November 4, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 4, 2009 Yes, do not bother with any other gamepad, the Xbox 360 controller is your only GOOD option.
Ridlas
Bullcrap, the logitech controllers are way better.
.KICK
Bullcrap, the logitech controllers are way better. It is all personal opinion but the Xbox 360 controller is pretty much one of the better ones.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted November 4, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 4, 2009 I disagree that the Logitech ones are better personally, purely because of the advent of Games for Windows. Those games perform perfectly with that controller. I'd say the Logitech ones are all standard affairs. No special features of note.
backdrifter
I'm not sure if I can get a XBox360 controller because the system was very recently introduced here. I'm not a very serious gamer so I was thinking to get a very generic gamepad. (probably not a logitech) to save some money. I was just wondering if games are gamepad aware, and not dependant on the gamepad's own drivers.
+Xinok Subscriber² Posted November 4, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 4, 2009 For games that don't support gamepads, you can try one of these programs. They simulate keyboard presses from a gamepad. mad_onion
you're looking at about $25 which is about 35-40 turkish lira (if that's where you're located..) for a xbox 360 wired controller eg this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPII.dll?View...0314648528#shId
LOC Veteran Posted November 9, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 9, 2009 Almost every game out these days (even non-retail even) are Games for Windows which means they support the 360 controller out of the box. Note, not Games for Windows LIVE though heh. And yeah if you can't get the controller to work the programs the others have mentioned work great. carmatic
I'd say the Logitech ones are all standard affairs. No special features of note. it has something that the xbox360 controller doesnt have - a fan it even shows up as an xbox360 controller in windows...
