Halo: Reach Beta Shots (Blurry) Leak Out?

Recommended Posts

Good! Finally we can see Reach is an FPS. lol. I was so scared that it was gonna be RTS.. cause RTS on 360 is a big no no. Yes, even no for Halo.

Why do the first leaked screenshots always have to be blurry?

Kinda hard to get good shots of a game/movie/video with a sneaky cellphone camera.

The engine looks realistic this time around ..YES.. they finally decided to make it less cartoony and more realistic and gritty.. Now this could be what I was hoping for from the start for Halo series. It would've had a much better impact if it went ala COD style and more realism despite the fact that we are dealing with aliens. The fact they had them all bubbly and colorful and looking like cartoons never really immersed me to the game such as COD did.

Judging from those photos the new engine looks fantastic.

The engine certainly looks much better, as Boz says it looks more believable, or as believable as you can get when dealing with space ships and aliens (Y)

This game better be longer than that POS ODST.

It will be. ODST was supposed to be an expansion, remember. This is a full-blown game.

That said... is anyone else slightly disappointed at these shots? As in, just more Halo? I'm really looking forward to Reach but I don't know, I was expecting something else. Yes, the graphics look good - more realistic than before certainly, but I thought there would be something that grabbed me as amazing and so far.. there's not, I don't think.

Roll on the Bungie Weekly Update later today... wonder what they'll have to say, if anything?

"As awesome as that looks and as excited as I am, I can't help but shake the feeling that I wanted reach to do something a lot more different from the previous titles.

I dunno I was just hoping to see them try their hand at something new and different."

what I wrote in the other thread.

if Bungie does what they are best at, they won't say anything :p

But isn't it too early to pass a judgement?

About "just more Halo": what do you really expect? there is a war between Humans and Covenant. The game is about that. What could they different story wise? Hell, even the end of the game is a known fact :D Reach falls!

I think those shots look awesome, I don't care if it's still FPS and not different, like they said I dunno what they could do that's different. I'm sure that it'll be subtly different in the way that ODST is (i.e. every time I try n play it recently I keep getting killed :p)

The shot of what I will assume is Castle Base looks oddly familiar. I'm going to remain on the wall about the legitimacy of these screens. I am also concerned about the giant "START MENU" text at the top and the rest of that menu. It is way off the wall for Bungie branding and is hardly reminiscent of the menu.

P.S. ODST > Halo 3. IMO

I'm not a halo hater but it looks like more of the same

same gameplay, same weapons, same enemies

this will be the 5th game in the halo series that's basically the same and before anyone says anything yes I'll still buy it lol and I guess I will complain about modern warfare too when it has more than 3 sequels!

Technically MW2 is CoD 6.... Thats where your complaints should be directed... :p

You know, FPS as it stands, has hit a wall gameplay wise imo. Aside from changing the weapons around to try and add some new elements, the gameplay is and will always be what it has been since the first Halo showed up and brought us all the idea of health recharging, something CoD then used and so on. That's really been the last big gameplay change, since then some have added cover systems, which is nice in the right type of game.

But the point is, FPS games, purelly gameplay wise, have hit a wall. Now we're starting to see more rpgfps and rtsfps games. Because that's the only way they can bring in something new to the first person shooter.

So, all those who say "it's just another halo", I don't quite get what you're expecting from it. This is why we have catagories and so on, when I pick up a RPG I know what I'm getting into and what to expect from the gameplay.

Exactly. The reason I buy Halo isn't for a new experience, but to get the same experience out of it. Just like any fan buys his favorite series of movies, because he wants more of what he has already been given. I'm just looking for that same ambiance and grandeur I felt when playing Halo CE again in these Halo games. ODST is the closest by far and I am hoping the lessons learned in it by Bungie will make Reach even more so.
