morganpugh84
I just bought a MacBook Pro and am trying to find some good software so that it can replace my Windows system. If I list the Windows software would others be able to list similar software for the Mac? The software doesn't have to be free, I am fine with paying for software if it is good enough. Free Download Manager Media Player Classic Homecinema (for avi (divx/xvid) and mkv playback) CCleaner (for general system clean up) Eraser (for secure file deletion, I work with a lot of sensitive financial documents for clients and I want to ensure that they really are gone) mkv2vob (for converting mkv files to mpeg files so I can play them on my PS3) Mp3tag Total Commander uTorrent Notepad2 (for this I think TextMate is what I am after but willing to try other free editors before I buy it) I think that is about it. So far I am loving the MBP :) Installed Windows Vista in boot camp and Windows 7 in VMware Fusion. This really is an amazing machine. Runs beautifully. Many thanks in advance for your replies
Brian M. Veteran Posted November 6, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 6, 2009 Free Download Manager - Not sure - I just use Safari as it has the ability to resume downloads Media Player Classic Homecinema (for avi (divx/xvid) and mkv playback) - I personally use VLC for all video playback CCleaner (for general system clean up) - Onyx Eraser (for secure file deletion, I work with a lot of sensitive financial documents for clients and I want to ensure that they really are gone) - Can be done in disk utility (Erase free space) mkv2vob (for converting mkv files to mpeg files so I can play them on my PS3) - Unsure Mp3tag - Unsure Total Commander - Not really a direct replacement, but Transmit uTorrent - uTorrent Notepad2 (for this I think TextMate is what I am after but willing to try other free editors before I buy it) - Yep, Textmate :p
