Boy I wish I knew about FIFA 10 PC

Recommended Posts

So I just bought FIFA 10 for PC so happy about next gen graphics and all the other new stuff.

But then I find out... ITS NOT NEXT GEN GRAPHICS!

Infact it looks like FIFA 2009!

Oh the humanity!

Yeah, EA Sports games on the PC is just a re-make from previous versions. Like Madden was just continuously re-done every year with the same engine and stuff and nothing new was added, until they killed it off. :/

It's funny because 2010 looks like 2009.

2009 looks like 2008.

2008 looks like 2007.. and so on.

So FIFA is stuck in like.. 2004.

Well, they have clearly improved the game over the 2004 installment.

I have always felt that Sports games should be played on a console, since it's easier with a controller. Unless, of course, you are either really good with the keyboard, or like to play with a controller connected to your PC.

I can attest that both the PS3 and 360 versions of FIFA10 look amazing! ;)

I thought graphics were merely icing on the cake. Isnt it the gameplay thats important?

Yeah, gameplay sucks though, it still uses the old PS2 engine.

Apparently FIFA 2010 is the PES beater on consoles - PES has gone down an arcade route whereas FIFA is more in-depth.

However, the PC version is just not comparable to the console releases.

EA again shafting PC gamers.

I still find it funny as hell that they nuke all EA sports games on PC except FIFA, but then only have the PS2 ports of FIFA, literally.

What, Madden or NHL or NBA weren't selling enough on PC EA to port the PS2 versions of those huh?

Idiots.

Why would you buy FIFA 10 for the PC anyway?

That's like saying why buy any game for PC when you can buy it for a console. You buy it for PC for several reasons, one of the main ones would obviously be mouse and keyboard support, and the ability to modify game settings and graphic settings.

And mods.

And dedicated servers.

And more players online in a match.

And a cheaper retail price...usually.

Well i'm an avid fifa PC player since like 2004 give or take, and whilst 2008, 2009 and 2010 have barely improved graphically if any, just the same old polished out polygons and then re-polished. However I do feel gameplay on PC 2010, feels a lot like X360 in terms of ball motion and physics, but when compared graphically, yuck...

Well to be fair, those sports that you mentioned don't have as much international appeal as soccer does in latin america, for example.

Now PES10 PC just feels arcady as hell to me.

my 2 cents anyways.

Yeah I know they don't have as much international appeal. But still, Madden not being sold in the US? NBA or NHL not in the US? Hell, I know Madden (NFL) is getting more popular in the UK every year, what?!

But yeah I can understand if it was stricly not being sold overseas. Not here in the US though...

Yeah it might it the UK, but like I said earlier, football, basketball aren't nearly as popular as soccer in brazil, argentina and all of south and central america. Although, I wonder if it was just cheaper in the long wrong to drop the PC versions because they simply weren't making enough money on the PC versions to justify paying licenses, player images and whatnot.

Off topic:I remember back in the day, around 64 and PS, some random basketball game didn't have famous players like jordan.

i downloaded the demo for the pc version and all the players hair was in their groin and stomach.

 but how on earth did you see the hair on the stomach?

This is very true. I have XBOX 360 but I wanted FIFA on my laptop cause I travel a lot. The gameplay is good however the AI can be sort of stupid. And shooting seems to always go in the same location.

Next gen graphics are graphics which aren't capable of running on current systems.

And therefore, are useless at the moment.

I'd say current gen graphics would be a better phrase.

.. Geez I sound like a troll.

I'm actually surprised EA have different versions from console to PC. I don't get it. The PC has always been the more powerful platform.

Next Gen is XBOX 360's and PS3's graphics, for the sake of comparison.

You can obviously think of it as the next generation of graphics, as in what will come after XBOX 360/PS3, but it's not the case.

I don't think there's anything equal to XBOX 360/PS3 graphics on a PC, sure you've got Crysis but you need a very powerful PC to run it smoothly, while games like FIFA 2010, still have "crap" graphics but run perfectly fine on a "medium" PC, like mine.

That's just nonsense. If you ignore EA's laziness with Fifa's PC version lately, you'd see that every multiplatformed game (that's released both on console/s and PC) is graphically better on the PC.

Just look at Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, GTA IV, Mass Effect, Prince of Persia, NBA2k10, NFS: Shift, Colin McRae: Dirt, Dragon Age: Origins, MW2 and etc for example.

Like I've said, you need a powerful PC to enjoy it, it means nothing if you have pretty graphics and you just barely run the game, or with stutters and all of that.

While on the Consoles, everything works fine, for the most part, and has great graphics, of course that still depends on the developers.. but still... they don't need to buy more RAM or a new Video Card just to play the next game at maximum settings.

Your Xbox 360 can play Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Jade Empire, The Witcher and countless other games at 1920x1200? PC graphics will always be better than whatever the consoles can offer. The only thing you have to sacrifice on is the price point. :p

umm what?

PC games.... Gears of war, BorderLands, Dragon Age, Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 5, NFS Shift, Mirrors Edge, Red Factions Monekymahemthingy, Team Fortress 2, UT3, and the list goes on man. PC graphics will always beat any console any day.

The only bad graphics PC's get are crappy ports from crappy developers.

Sorry, I guess I didn't make much sense then.

I wanted to say that Consoles have great graphics and games work smoothly on them, while on the lovely PC you first have to meet the minimum requirements just for the game to launch - and further into recommended requirements for it to run smoothly, each game requirement differs from year to year, even from game to game, so overall unless you fork over tons of money to upgrade your PC to constantly be on the high-end, you'll run into a game that you simply can't run as smoothly as you wish (GTA IV springs to mind), it does offer great graphics but makes little sense of playing it, because of it's choppy playback and memory leaks (or whatever it is that slows down after hours of gameplay).

Anyway, no harm done ^^ It's all good, so far :)
