Shivek
In Vista, I don't have this problem. But in Windows 7 refresh rate is stuck at 59 hertz and this gives me lots of headaches! I get tearing in games and they're just not smooth because I cannot turn on vsync in some. But otherwise the problem doesn't affect me much. Anyway to fix this bug? MS Bob 11
Are you still on CRTs? If not then it's because your vsync is off. Nothing to do with refresh rate. Look in your driver options to force vsync on.

leesmithg
Mine is 59 or 60. I read in my monitor manual it's 60, so it's 60. When I first got this monitor I used it at 100 on XP.

Shivek
LCD refresh rate is pointless:http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=1248 Its not a *known* bug lol.... source? You're really ignorant, mate. It IS a known bug! Many people have this problem and although the refresh rate in LCDs are pointless, some games have problems if 60 hertz is not used when the ****ing OSD of the monitor states 60 hertz. There's tearing and some games seem choppy. Take PES2010 for example. With 59 hertz, the Vsync cannot be enabled and the game is ****ing choppy but as soon as you try it in Vista and enable Vsync its smooth once again because Vista correctly makes your monitor's refresh rate 60 hertz. Shivek
Do a quick Google search and you'll get what I mean. It's not just PES, there are other games as well.
alisalem
Try D3DOverrider that comes with RivaTuner. It'll force V-Sync for PES but you have to disable the option of "Enable Frame Skipping" in PES settings for smooth gameplay.

Hopefully it'll be a fix for all games or maybe I'll wait till Catalyst 9.11 come out.
