Modern Warfare:The Day After The SmoKe Cleared

Oh as for the whole using Steam thing -- not sure how well that is gonna work. All other Valve games seem to have issues with hackers (VAC isn't really that great at detecting hacks) -- so I won't be surprised if hackers become a problem for MW2 especially without server admins/the ability to kick people.

First wallhack is already out, not even 24 hours.

I can see why console gamers may like it but anyone who only plays PC games should know better than to buy into MW2.

As I posted on another site about buying the game:

I feel so dirty, like I just spent 5 minutes with the town ###### after pounding a bottle of Jack Daniels while chasing each sip with a Johnny Walker & Jim Beam mixer.

I'm loving this both offline and online and yes I have the PC version. Matchmaking works great with host migration and everything else its pretty much the same as running on dedicated. I used to play COD4 pretty hardcore but I know i'll be moving onto this now.

video taken down due to what they say is copywrite infringement lol. More like taken down because someone already proved them wrong on a major issue...... MW2 is not a pc game to talk about ppl :p Buying MW2 is supporting terrorism :p

Just played Single Player, pretty sweet, story is a mess and hard to follow but game play is pretty good.

I've played a bit of multiplayer and thats also nice.

I'm ok with the game, would have liked more like the mods and dedicated servers but suppose it will have to do.

Do you even know on what system the series started on?

How does that matter? What matters is what Activision has in mind for the game in the present day, which seems to be consoles over PC.

I refuse to pay $59 on this. They've made it worse than cod4 on pc and raised the price.

That's how I feel. I'm personally really only interested in thee single-player campaign like I was with the first one (The MP is pretty good, but it isn't why I got the game, nor is it my favorite online MP shooter; it had a few flaws in my mind, so I didn't mess with it much). MW1's short campaign really wasn't worth $50 length-wise, but what was there was good enough that I didn't feel too badly about the cost; a lot of those missions are a blast to replay. But I'm certainly not paying $60 for another SP campaign. I *might* get it if Steam runs a good sale down the road, but I won't be paying full price, not with Dragon Age being out, Left 4 Dead 2 coming out (I won't pay full-price for that either; though unlike MW2, it is a definitely-will-get-eventually), and Mass Effect 2, Alien versus Predator, and Bioshock 2 coming within a couple of months; those sound like they'll be a better use of my money. :)

I caved in and bought the PC version. :ermm:

Why would you even mention price if you didnt want people asking? Seems a bit foolish ...

I don't get why this game is so popular. It's a virtual copy-paste of the previous game with a more expensive price tag, shorter campaign, less multiplayer options, etc....and that's just the 360 version.

The PC version is a steaming pile of monkey-****.

This game just sets a precedence that people will pay more for less. The next version is going to be even ****tier.

Why was my post edited? and what was edited?

Edit - Ahh the quote

Yep, the quote. Anyway, I hope I didn't waste my money. I wasn't going to buy it at all but my friend had to go and buy it on Steam. My other friend quickly followed suit which left me and one more friend. The four of us used to play CoD4 together. We went from playing in public servers to playing in private servers (2v2, hardcore, snipers-only, etc). It's fun, intense, and just plain awesome. And I kinda miss that, now that Modern Warfare 2 is out.

I just hope I can at least choose the map I want to play.

You can only choose the map if you are using a private server. If it's a public player match you get whatever random map is chosen and can only veto the map (and a majority have to vote on it to change it) to get another random map.

Thanks. It's a shame Infinity Ward decided to drop support for dedicated servers but I can live with it. In fact, I'll be happy as long as I can play private matches with my friends.

So Anaron how are you liking it on PC? I am purchasing my copy this weekend, and still not quite sure if I am going to buy it for PC or xbox

I haven't hopped online yet nor have I played the campaign. I did, however, play the crap out of Spec-Ops and so far, it's awesome. It might just be me but the game feels more "optimized" than CoD4 which is still installed on my PC. I only bought it for PC because of my friends, all of whom used to play CoD4 on the PC. We're a group of 4 highly-seasoned PC gamers so it was merely a matter of buying the game on PC or not. The console version was out of the question.

It's up to you though. I'd get whichever version has more friends playing. That way, it'll be "fun". :p

Anyway, I'll let you know how the MP is. I plan on going online later tonight.
