Facebook, Gamercard colors in next PS3 FW update

PS3-Update-Rumor-Shot_Top.jpg

Update: Looks like these shots were taken directly from the PlayStation website itself. Link here, here and here. It's real.

Original: Facebook integration, the ability to change your gamercard colors and more are coming to PlayStation 3, if these images from an anonymous tipster are to be believed.

The leaked images show the ability to manage your Facebook in your PlayStation Network account settings, changing the color of your PlayStation Network gamercard and a new, more sufficient way of looking through your photos.

Consider this a rumor right now, but the shots look pretty damn legit.

If they could link trophy announcements with Facebook status updates, I'd be impressed.

If not, it's a bit of a meh feature.

If they can do with Twitter in Uncharted 2, then they can do it with Facebook.

Definitely an annoyance. I can no longer watch Netflix on my 360 because of it. It's a shame that so many play on Live, otherwise, I'd really have no reason to pay for it, if not just to play with my buddies.

nice they are adding content it seams more and more as if they are trying to get people to use their console instead of a computer these days however with the keyboard attachments for the controllers its no wonder.

Its a smart business move; it makes the PS3's online system look more appealing to XBox Live when you get the same features for free. :)

Adjust settings for features in Facebook. These features are available only for users who have Facebook accounts.

Cool, wonder how much of an integration it will be?

Its own app?

I would hope that the chosen colours for our Gamercards would apple to our colours on a friends list too, that would be cool.

Going to pink it up. :D

Cool, they should add Twitter too.

The colors are only those preset colors? They should add a color wheel or something to have more colors.

I hope they drop those stupid blocks of color in the friends list. Not only are they far to big but they take longer to load. Just gimme back my clean list.

While at it, remove that stupid information bar

I'd rather have Twitter support, but I can't complain for new free features. Though I'd rather see cross game voice chat first.

Cross game chat was all but basically confirmed for the next FW update which was widely believed to be hitting at the end of October, one can only guess it was possibly delayed to coincide with the EU store... we shall see.

Still really don't see 'much' point to these. But free features if done right aren't a bad thing :)

Really depends how much you can do with it, uploading photos from the hard drive might be good :)

Anyone from poland?

3.10 also comes with new languages. Polish has been confirmed by SCEP. :)
Any ideas on when the new firmware is supposed to come out?
November 19th
What other languages?
SCEP (Sony Computer Entertainment Poland) confirms only Polish language for obvious reasons. :) You have to wait for official SCEE/SCEA announcement.

It would be if PSN was any good, which it clearly isn't. I own a PS3 and 360 and I can tell you, Live is light years ahead of PSN and worth every cent. It won't matter how many Live gold features Sony add to PSN, it will never be as good as Live. Don't get me wrong, that I love my 360 and PS3, I just think Live is way better then PSN.

These comments really do puzzle me, what exactly is it about Live that is so damn fantastic??

Cross game chat? Well that seems to be on its way...

All I want PSN to do is offer me a store that I can get demos from, play online with friends. Yep seems to do those for me :)

Added in with Vidzone and Life (for weather and news headlines) not aware of anything on 'Live' that offers that services for free or paid for yet? (could be wrong)

What is it that makes Live so spectacular that it's worth an annual fee, no matter how minimal it may be.

Live is better than PSN for online gaming (PS3 has no subscription service so when it does add other services, everyone can use), but it's not light years ahead of it  I'm beginning to think some people tried playing online at FW 1.0, then just ditched for their 360s and still now believe the PS3 hasn't changed.

AT the service is better for what most people on here will argue it's case upon (social gaming with friends online). If you're a complete loner though and play yourself you'll pretty much notice no difference. Gaming with friends though Live offers a more coherent approach.

The PS3 is more like the PC, you have to make the effort yourself to join your friends manually... aside from the games which offer friend invites, which there are quite a few of now (usually big named titles) - However Live can do that with every title regardless of it's budget/hype/size.

Things like MW2 though, even although Activision have buggered up their PS3 servers, you can do friend invites and all that jazz, so we're just waiting on universal chat and then there's not much difference between the systems, at least not anything that would condone the term "light years".

edit: MW2 was probably a bad example with universal chat, apparently that's banned on 360
