Brad.
Hey guys, is anyone having problems partying up? Since launch day it's said ''The game session you tried to join is no longer valid''. There's 3 of us trying to party up, we've all invited each other to our own lobby but no luck (Y). We've all reset our routers and stuff but no luck still... Just wondering if anyone's having the same issue.
richardsim7
Yup, known issue. From Robert Bowling's twitter: "Can someone go wake up the Sony Japanese team and tell them to turn on the Presence server? Only thing preventing invites for #MW2 PS3..." -Rich-

Corris Veteran Posted November 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 12, 2009 Well they are blaming Sony JPN, but said they would have a patch out too by friday. (though maybe it was part of 1.03) Who knows what is going on with this game.
DPyro
I thought the patch was for the trophy issues.

Sikh
People have been coming in all week because of COD being down for ps3. Didnt make a lot of people happy. Also, sony fails at having "free internet" when it doesnt even work. And to be specific, even Robert Bowling said this to someone @scoobyjim Xbox Live servers are maintained and ran by Microsoft. PSN servers are ran and maintained by 3rd party companies hired to do so. Which is what ive told everyone complaining about the ps3. You get what you paid for. Its been said many time, theres a reason I pay $3-3.50 a month/few pennies a day for Xbox Live. Its there, it works, and it kicks ass for every major game release. With this one being REAL big, it ran flawless so far. I was on the midnight/morning of tuesday after the midnight release till 9am, then back on at 10pm till 5am. Through out the day it worked good too because no one complained. Besides all this, I hope sony does fix there ****, getting tired of sony people coming in, bitching then saying the ps3 is better and walking away. I can say SO much to them, but whatevs.

Since Demonware was acquired by Activision Inc. in May 2007, we no longer licence our software to third party developers. SimplySchizo
People have been coming in all week because of COD being down for ps3. Didnt make a lot of people happy. Also, sony fails at having "free internet" when it doesnt even work. thats all fine and dandy but you made a slight oversight. its NOT sony that screwed everyone out of the party invite system. its NOT sony servers being down. the psn was NOT 'broken' as was stated by the infamous Robert Bowling. the problem in hand was indeed Activisions servers. They couldnt handle all the simultaneous queries and were overloaded. they had to bring in more servers for the matching system. also later said by good ol Robert Bowling. Activision also RUNS the matching servers on your precious xbl. surprised? all connections have to go through them. so what exactly does sony have to fix in this case exactly? the Japanese team? this guys been throwing **** at sony from the get go without checking the problem where it lies. the more i read garbage like this, the more i wonder if ms threw in a lil extra incentive for a smear campaign. feel free to tell those that come in that the actual problem lies in the developer and their neglect to check their product for the simplest of things before releasing it on such a large scale. its no secret they road the 360 train the whole way. no reason to treat/overlook/neglect the other versions as they did. glad you have your xbl to fall back on. i and others on the pc/ps3 side have to sit here and stomach the bullsh*t Robert Bowling continues to fling Edited November 13, 2009 by schiz-o-phren-ic
Sikh
^ Ok, SO if activision runs the servers for Microsoft, why did he say himself that they are hosted and MANAGED by Microsoft? @Audio: Its not sales talk, thats my personal opinion. What I tell to people is "you choose what you choose" because at work I can give a tight **** who gets what. If they ask me for my opinion they get it. I dont get comission and I sure as hell am not a bestbuy employee, so I dont need to sell ****. So get off your high chair there bud, and understand what im trying to say. Killzone 2 had issues the first few days? Who ran those servers?(serious question). I know killzone is a Sony exclusive so I want to know how can there be issues? Coming into the topic about MW2 on the PS3 and blowing your load about Live and why paying your pennies a day isn't sales talk? The issues are now fixed, quick enough turn around but it shouldn't have happened for such a high profile game. Actually Killzone 2 was one of the better launch day titles, it worked from launch with minor issues if any. Lots of titles have launch issues, what about Gears of War 2 that didn't work for weeks? Just because you pay for Live doesn't mean every 360 developer gets it right. The worst PS3 exclusive has been Socom Confrontation. Fact is there's a difference between PSN and a games servers. There has been nothing wrong with PSN the last few days which is why I don't know why you're going off on one about Live. It's like me going into the Socom Confrontation topic and saying the game being butchered at launch is defendable because Xbox Live was down for weeks at Christmas 2008. Games servers are not the same as Sony/Microsofts console servers, the games servers are the responsibility of the developer/publisher, not Sony/MS, unless said servers are owned by Sony/MS for 1st party IP. Gears of War 2/Call of Duty are not 1st party IP, it was up to Epic to fix Gears, and Activision to fix COD. Sikh
What my point was audio, which I went at it the wrong way is, when you pay for live, you also PAY FOR THE SERVERS. Thats my point. With PSN you get PSN. Nothing else. So you get nothing really because PSN is still lacking a bit of stuff that EVERYONE has agreed on in the PSN topic. Maybe one day the perfect firmware update will come but besides the point. Then games like this come out, theres not enough support for them(i dont blame the game publishers/third partys for this, they dont know what to expect). Where as Microsoft, gets a whole boat load of servers up. That was my point. As far as Gears goes, I played it the first few weeks, it worked, the only thing was the game was actually fed up as far as I know because server rise/live rise I got no lag or problems when I played. What i do know is, every update made the game better at finding games, but if I had a party and searched for another player for horde it worked, or just multiplayer and it worked. So Idk too much about the release of gears besides that it worked.

Yourself, and I think it was Mystic that viciously defended Gears of War 2, must be the only people who thought that  Matchmaking was borked in Gears for a decent spell of time. Heck half the 360 section on this board will happily tell you that if you believe I'm trying to pull something out of my ass. My point being some games have issues on launch, others don't, but Activision, not Sony, were responsible for an oversight with demand on the PS3 for MW2. Epic, not Microsoft, were responsible for patching and fixing the broken matchmaking in Gears. That don't know what to expect line is the biggest pile of turd in ages, Modern Warfare sold 11 million on consoles, you've got to expect big things for MW2. It's the same PR line every large developer throws at the fanbase with day 1 issues, "we didn't expect the demand".

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted November 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 13, 2009 Can we check our stats online or anything? Mines are probably terrible. I topped one game, but that was the big game flag domination. I tend to score better at objective based FPS games, rather than outright deathmatch.
