Xtreme2damax
I'm having an issue when trying to run Lost Planet Extreme Condition in DirectX 10.0 mode. I can't change the resolution any higher than 640x480 for some reason. I'm on Windows 7 x64 and have a Nvidia Geforce 9800GT. I am using the 195.39 64-bit forceware drivers from Nvidia. Minifig
Apparently Lost Planet actually requires you to add the missing DX files, in both 9.0 & 10, in both XP and Vista, and I'd assume the same for 7. Lost Planet PC got horrible reviews because it was a direct port of the 360 version, and they didn't bother encoding it right. As such, it's very, very, very, very buggy. Slammers
More info please. Does it stall if you go higher? Or does it not even let you choose a higher resolution? You could try setting is manually in the config file if it's got one. Try a different driver revision. I take it that you can go over 640x480 in dx9? edit: haha Minifigs post wasn't there when I wrote this. That's so pathetic of the devs although youd think without the dx files there would just be an error on startup I think this may be another problem. Incase you didn't realize, you won't miss anything from playing in dx9 anyway. Edited November 13, 2009 by stunts
Xtreme2damax
It won't let me go any higher as in there is only two resolution options to choose from, with 640x480 being the highest. In DX9 mode I am able to choose a higher resolution. The problem seems specific only to DX10 mode and I am unsure of what I can do to fix the problem. Slammers
Honestly don't do anything just play in dx9 I know it may be nice to play in dx10 just for the sake of utilizing your hardware but there's really no point in this game. Theres an ATi hotfix for older driver version for the dx10 mode in this game which may do it, anyway if you google it you'll find lots of people have this problem. Xtreme2damax
I don't really mind playing in DX9, but I don't like my options to be limited either. I'm more interested in fixing the problem than playing in DX10 mode itself, that's not saying I won't play in DX10 mode if given the option to as I want to get the most out of my hardware so long as it doesn't drastically affect performance. :)
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted November 13, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 13, 2009 The performance hit of DX10 isn't worth the slight or perhaps negligible image quality improvements. I've seen benchmarks where the FPS is nearly halved from DX9 mode to DX10 mode.
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted November 13, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) i bought the game for $5 on Steam a while back. are you playing on Steam or standalone? i have no issues w/ DX10 on Vista x64 a while back. Today im using 7 x64, so i havent tried the game since i beat it. if i remember, i'll try after work today... @Minifig - i didnt notice any bugs at all when i played. yeah, the controls were a little wonky b/c of the porting aspect, but no bugs. UPDATE - i just tried playing through Steam and everything was fine... sorry Xtreme Edited November 13, 2009 by Jdawg683
Xtreme2damax
It's strange because my video card drivers are the latest and I've already updated DirectX to the latest bi-monthly redistributable.
Xtreme2damax
I managed to solve my problem, oddly enough changing the refresh rate to 61hz allowed me to adjust the resolution higher. It's strange considering this is the only DX10 game that requires me to do this.
