So my roommate bought a mint condition NES...

My wife still has her NES, and it still works. She has nearly 30 games for it (although that does include about 3 copies of the Mario/Duck Hunt cartridge), two controllers and the gun. She posted a photo set on her site recently showing her playing it.

Ahh yes - the NES .... from the '80s and early '90s.

Now I have an emulator.

Awesome! I found one at goodwill computer tech for $20.. included two controllers and all cables. It worked better than the other two I had, but I ended up repairing the 72-pin anyway so I wouldn't have to fight every cartridge. Interestingly enough the bottom says its from Canada... I live in Texas :laugh:

LOL, I still remember the hell I went through adjusting to the NES gamepad having come from Atari joysticks. Had some really fun times with that system :)

The only thing that ever went bad on the NES was the 72-pin connector. The top-loading model fixed that but the idiots at Nintendo America chose to remove the A/V outputs on the US units.
