+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted November 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 13, 2009 We know Activision made a ton of money from the launch of Modern Warfare 2, but just how much did the company's much-loved boss, Robert Kotick, manage to score for himself? Here's a hint: loads. Flush with the success of the launch, Kotick this week offloaded almost two million Activision stock options he'd held since 2000. When they were worth $1.03 each. In this post-Modern Warfare 2 world, however, they're worth around $11.50. Want me to do the math for you? Subtract the $2 million strike price from the equation and Kotick earned himself just over $20 million. In less than a week. Think he's an *******? He can't hear you. His mansions are insulated with money. Source: http://kotaku.com/5403762/so-how-much-did-...odern-warfare-2 :p

I was trying to pay my mortgage payment this month and accidentally transferred it into Koticks bank account, I know, part of the problem... Fubar
What a stupid news story, for a few reasons 1, this is about stock options not MW2 sales and how much he made from it 2, he's the CEO of Activision Blizzard that wont be a lot of money for him 3,Kotaku FAIL

And Kotaku win for the last comment, I lol'd. I managed to make $15,000 after investing a ton of money into ATVI stock a few months back from the launch of MW2. DigitalE
I don't see what the big deal is here. Guy buys cheap stock into a company, waits for the stock value to rise, and sells them for more than he bought them for. Doesn't this happen every day? struct
This is how stock option plans work. Well, at least supposed to work anyway.

Here's a blindingly obvious fact for all the whiners like the guys from Kotaku. Activision makes games. Games are not necessary for your quality of life and certainly is not a thing you must buy. You can either BUY IT, or NOT. If you buy it, such as people do with stuff they like, as I do, the company makes money. It's called a business. And since Activision seems to be coming out with terrific games and has a good business model and success, he can make gazillion of dollars and wipe his butt with it and it's non of anyone's concern. Kotaku and everyone else who agrees with this pointless rant should ask themselves why are they jelous and if they have so much issue with Activision and their business decisions or lame games they make or whatever bugs your ass, you should just not BUY their products. Simple as that. Activision is not a social institution.

Again, takingthingstooseriously.gif Kotaku are poking fun at the hiveminds who troll anything Activion/hate anything Bobby Kotick, yeah, in order to cause a stir cause it's funny. There isn't even any rant above, all it says is this is what Kotick earns, then a punchline joke aimed at those who're mad at his earnings. twist
if he's held the stock for 9 years how exactly did he make $20mil in less then a week? Sounds to me like it took over 9 years of developing the company to the point that it was worth that much.
Smigit
well he's held them since 2000 right? I wouldn't exactly calling that making 20 million in a week.
