+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted November 24, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 24, 2009 Tony Hawk RIDE may be getting a critical panning, but the skater behind the peripheral-based game's out for RIDE 2. Right now. "We have already started that process, but who knows what the future holds," he said when asked by Gamespot if there was going to be a second game. "I've never had a master plan, especially with our old series, of how many we could do, or how far we could take it. It really was all about the fans and the console technology. "As far as I'm concerned, it's all systems go with trying to make at least a sequel for this, because I feel like we've only just really tapped what's possible with this technology." Yeah. When Giant Bomb calls your game a "miserable failure," you might want to think about "reshaping" your ideas before going again, non? +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted November 24, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 24, 2009 This game has had a lot of press and TV coverage over here, so Tony Hawk is marketing it like crazy. I personally don't even think he's a popular celebrity anymore. He's just that guy from the video game.
bangbang023 Veteran Posted November 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 24, 2009 I tried it. The experience was terrible. Felt like I could stand still and the game would play itself.
NienorGT
Wow... just WOW... How many money they give to Hawk to say "It's a good game" and having it's face on the cover?
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted November 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 24, 2009 Wow... just WOW...How many money they give to Hawk to say "It's a good game" and having it's face on the cover? While I am sure he makes a pretty penny for his likeness and name being used on the game, this has also been a video game franchise that more or less helped catapult him to superstar status. I without a doubt believe without the game series, he is not as popular as he at least was, as I tend to agree he is not as popular as he once was, but he is more or less a household name and who people associate with when they think of skateboarding / extreme sports. I mean I actually feel for Hawk here. I believe he genuinely felt this was the next step to take with the franchise, and as such he really put his faith into it, and he is in a really bad position where if he comes out and says it sucks he is basically destroying the corporate ties he has created, so honestly I understand and realize why he has to sit there and say it is a good game even if it is not. LOC Veteran Posted November 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 24, 2009 The board is horrible from what I've read and seen isn't it? I mean the Gametrailers and IGN reviews were harshhhhh but really harsh on the board itself more than anything. And they will continue using it? Yikes. iconboy
This could have been a great move in revitalizing skateboard and snowboarding games but from everything I've heard it looks like they screwed up the game on so many levels that it takes a step wayyy back in the series- the graphis, gameplay and hardware are all buggy as he'll and with a big company like activision there is no excuse for this
Sethos
The underlying idea is okay, execution is poor as hell - Improve or GTFO.
