Farcry 2 on the PC or 360?

Recommended Posts

Ok I was planning to buy it used friday for $15 on the 360. But then I saw the steam deal for $10. My only problem is I don't know how well my PC could run the game. I have a AMD x2 2.4ghz, 3gb ram, 9500GT 512mb. Would that run it well at 1440x900? Or am I better off getting the 360 version?

You're better off getting it for the X360. Your video card is weak and will likely result in poor performance.

I recommend not buying it and instead buying Far Cry (the original) if you have not already... just my two cents. I regret buying it on the PC. If you're going to buy it on one platform, I'd say 360 as it really won't run well on your PC at all as others have said.

If you have the hardware, Far Cry 2 is glorious on PC.

it was the first game i played on my new rig and i was shocked at how sharp and crisp the graphics were.

360 version is no comparison

Neither. That game is not worth anywhere near $10.

If someone put a gun to my head, I would prefer the 360 version just because a 9500GT won't be able to handle the game too well.

360 version, I suspect your PC might not cope with it very well.

Neither, FC2 was a huge flop!

Why do people seem to think their personal opinions somehow account for everyone's? just because you didn't like it doesn't mean nobody else will. Personally I did enjoy FarCry 2, my only issue with it was how exactly does it relate to FarCry? :p I fail to see the connection personally...

Yeah the 2 didn't make much sense. Just keep Far Cry and add a new subtitle lol. Well I grabbed the 360 version. Thanks for all the input other then those that said neither, as I had rented before and if I thought the game sucked that bad I wouldn't have posted about it.

What was wrong with Far Cry 2? Maybe they shouldn't have used the name Far Cry since it has nothing to do with the first one but it is quite a good game. The graphics are quite nice and the game is well optimised itself compared to Crysis. I guess I find the storyline intriguing since it's a bit like Blood Diamond (movie).

far cry 2 sucked big time. whilst IMHO, the graphics are superior to crysis, and generally smoother, the game-play and structure was what let it down.

That said, Id still get it to knock about with, as the graphics really are stunning. just dont expect to much from the game it self though.

to answer your question, you shouold defo get the xbox 360 version based on your specs... otherwise i would have reccomended the PC version.

Plus the whole malaria thing was a burden, the characters were forgettable, it took forever to go from mission to mission, and the AI could somehow see through walls

don't let the negative comments throw you, it's still worth a play through. it's got it's issues of course, but from someone who just finished it days ago i'd still recommend it. the ending wasn't all that amazing, but i did get a huge sense of accomplishment from finishing it. i played it on my ps3 btw, however i'd recommend the xbox 360 version in your case.

While the game is lackluster, the editor is by far the most fun I have had making maps. As others have said I would get it for the 360 in your situation. My only question has to do with the map community. Is it better on PC or 360? It irritated me that the Live community wasn't patient enough to wait for maps to load, so I rarely got to test my maps.
