blachole
I bought my MacBook on November 11, 2008, but just forgot that I had done that and haven't bought the extended AppleCare yet. Their website tells me I am screwed and can't get it any longer, but I have heard there are ways to get it and either it will only give me an extra year of care instead of 2 or I can get it with no issues. Does anyone know the legit outcome of this? Can I still get it?
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted November 27, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 27, 2009 I would guess yes... No company is going to turn money away on a product you hope you never need.
null_
I purchased AppleCare for the MacBook Pro that I had last year via eBay and didn't have any problems registering it, mind you my system was within the one year period at the time. I'm not sure what would happen if you did this and tried registering it outside of the one year period, as to whether or not it will accept it, or give you some form of extended warranty. Good luck! Elliott
Outside of the one year period, I'm not sure. I was able to do it for my iPod, but I have no idea about a MacBook. Apple will probably still take your money. :p
NeoXY
The best way is to go talk to someone at the store or to give them a call. The policy on it is that you can't buy Applecare once you've past the one year mark. But seeing you are only 2 weeks off, maybe they can do something for you. But they are not obligated to sell you anything...
Guest
I would suggest giving AppleCare a call and explaining your situation to them. I think they would have more power than someone in the retail store :).
JimmyCypherz
If not then get a squaretrade warranty on it :D
PNWDweller
I personally don't see any reason why..But I can't say for sure. I was at the Wal-mart here locally the other night and saw an Applecare warranty card sitting out with the other cards for phone minutes, Itunes credits etc... I figured it was for those who wanted to purchase it. Maybe it was for a gift or something for someone who got an Apple product for Christmas or something. I never read the back of the card for details though.
blachole
Just a follow up post, I called up to them and explained the situation and they were able to let me upgrade my applecare even though I was late by 2 weeks. I guess I was just lucky to who I spoke with.
Brian M. Veteran Posted November 29, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 29, 2009 From past experience, they usually will do it, but if you do it at a store they will want to check the machine first (to ensure that you haven't waited until it's broken to extend the warranty).
