+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted November 29, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 29, 2009 The competition must be doing something wrong if people are willing to go through all that to have an xbox. If you've purchased a ton of games, have XBLA content and have friends on XBL why would you want to rid of your 360 and go with the PS3? For most people it's a stupid threat thrown around when they're angry their 360 broke. I've said it before but if you really enjoy something, especially something like a gaming console that gives you so many hours of entertainment, you're going to want to keep playing it. I always think it's funny when someone rages out at their broken 360 and claims they're now switching over to a PS3. A PS3 won't play your 360 games, you may not have as many friends with one, and the experience is slightly different. Of course, some people may be able to change without much downside, maybe if they aren't a MP gamer and don't buy many games, but for most people switching consoles is more hassle and loss than sending the 360 to MS to be fixed for free (if RROD). People aren't willing to go through it, they just want to keep playing something they really enjoy. That's my view on it anyway, broken hardware unless needing to be fixed and I had no cash, wouldn't stop me from sending it away to get it back again to play - Or trying to fix myself. 5Horizons
I really can't understand you people. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 4+ times, I really need to think about whom I give my hard earned money to. Seriously, some of you bought 4 Xbox's because the previous three broke down? Wow. Wooow. I can't speak for the OP, but personally I have too many games, accessories, and XBL friends to just quit on the 360... It's a ton of fun and I guess that overshadows the hassle of getting them repaired.
OOOOOOOO
Wow ... after my second I'd have sold the 3rd if that was a replacement. I'm sorry, but this is the one thing stopping me getting an Xbox. I know a lot of people with Xboxes. Every single one of them has had one die on them. EVERY SINGLE PERSON. That is disgusting. George P Global Moderator Posted November 29, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 29, 2009 Since they get fixed for free and quick what's the problem exactly? Having lost one didn't actually bother me anyways since in the end it cost me exactly $0 to get a newer one back in the end. My original one didn't have HDMI, this 2nd one does, so I've actually come out on top in the end.
acnpt
Since they get fixed for free and quick what's the problem exactly? Wasting time contacting support, boxing it, arranging a pickup with UPS, waiting for UPS, not having it for a week, waiting in for UPS to deliver it. I've had one die, and still happy with xboxs, but it is annoying.
Xilo
XBox should be renamed to DeadBox because that's all that ever happens to it. My cousin went through 6 XBox's. That's just sad.
George P Global Moderator Posted November 30, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 30, 2009 Wasting time contacting support, boxing it, arranging a pickup with UPS, waiting for UPS, not having it for a week, waiting in for UPS to deliver it.I've had one die, and still happy with xboxs, but it is annoying. I contacted support, though you can do it online as well on xbox.com, the phone call was 5mins, no biggy. And boxing it? Seriously? Now that's just nitpicking it. As for pickup and waiting, I didn't wait. Since I'm in Greece and there is no UPS here, I just dropped it off at one of the local curriors here and then went and picked it up once it came back from the same place. Not having it for 2 weeks, no biggy, I wasn't in the middle of a game either. Regardless, having them die after a few months does suck, I don't deny that. But if it's lasted over 2 years and or closer to 3yo I can't really complain at all in that case. On the other hand a know a few people who've had to get their PS3 fixed at 3yo (typical disc drive read problems, sony can't seem to escape those), and had to pay for it. I'd be miffed if I had to pay anything, but I don't, so it's actually nothing more than just waiting a bit to get the new one. It's also not like I don't have other things to do, you know, in the real world.

George P Global Moderator Posted November 30, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 30, 2009 Had my xbox for about a year and it's still running fine. Some people must just get unlucky. I really start to think that the people who get refurbs are just going through the same batch of RRoD'd 360s that the repair center in their area has on hand. Well, the majority of them anyways. It's just the feeling I have.
Lexcyn
I traded my launch console for the Halo 3 console, and it's still going strong. However, my brothers launch console did die last year so he was forced to buy an arcade and swap hard drives.
Astra.Xtreme
This is exactly the reason I pick up red ringed consoles on eBay/Craiglist for $30. There are plenty of them out there and once fixed, they last long enough. My first fix lasted about a year and a half, and the one I fixed after that is still kicking. George P Global Moderator Posted December 11, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted December 11, 2009 My first one, I might add, got knocked over a few times, moved to 3 different locations, the last of which was by motorbike, so it got shaken up pretty good. It wasn't treated perfect.

Jason S. Global Moderator Posted December 11, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted December 11, 2009 After 4 dead XBOX's, don't you think its time to make the switch to something that will rarely die on you? *hugs my PS3* Not a fanboy or nothing, but 4 dead XBOX's is just bad luck dude, I feel sorry for ya. i was thinking the same thing. i would have given up on the Xbox all together after the 2nd dead one. Gotenks98
Sometimes I think its user error. Many times folks do crazy stuff with their systems. I bought an elite earlier this year and no problems. Just keep it well ventilated and install all games to the HD and you should not have issues. And for the love of gawd make sure its not a used or refurb system because you are pretty much going to have a problem.
