Kerm
It's good at what it's aimed at, in a very neat little package. Enjoy it mate, i don't think you'll regret it. It's not what the hype makes it out to be though.

Quillz
Personally, I'd have saved up a bit more to get the 13'' MacBook Pro, but the MacBook is good for what it's built to do.

Owen W Veteran Posted December 2, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 2, 2009 Will this Macbook be sufficient to play Age of Empires 3 does anyone know? Should be fine, I think. I don't know though, I've never actually owned a Mac. The specs look okay though.
what
It'll play Age of Empires 3. If it doesn't, you've been officially ripped off. AoE3 is an old game now. Any new hardware should run it.
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 2, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 2, 2009 Will this Macbook be sufficient to play Age of Empires 3 does anyone know? It's definitely sufficient. You won't get good performance though. I'm guessing >15 FPS at reasonable settings.
AltecXP
I get 30-50 FPS in WoW on the default settings on my 13in unibody macbook. I think you have the same hardware I do.
Shaun N.
I came here thinking you had bought Implulse, You know...the Stardock software. I even had a smile on my face as I read the subject. Grats on your buy even so :p
+John Teacake MVC Posted December 5, 2009 Author MVC Share Posted December 5, 2009 Im panicing about the Macbook that got delivered now. As soon as I got it out of the box I handed it to someone to show and the turned it on. Will this have ruined the battery life as it never got charged. I quickly turned it off and then plugged it into the mains. Have I ruined my otherwise gorgeous looking macbook already?
evo0o
i did the same with my mbp after getting it, i still manage 6-7 hours of battery life. no worries on that front!

witalit
I also impulse bought a MacBook Pro recently. I was looking for a laptop that I could use when visiting my friends to have a mix using Virtual DJ. I have always loved the look of MacBooks but they are just so damn expensive which is true but worth it! I was wondering is it worth me purchasing Apple Care for an extra ?200 or pay out for insurance??? I don't know whats more worth it.
neocongirl
I am on my third Macbook (1 white, 2 Pros), and had an iBook before MacBooks came out. I absolutely love them, best overall notebooks around imo, and I have to use both windows based as well. I currently have an LG T1, Toughbook and a Thinkpad T60p and I would take a Macbook any day of the week. OS X is literally fun to use and Macbooks are beautiful, solid machines. The price becomes a non issue after long term use, they pay for themselves.

You can buy them from the states for about ?65 for the 13" MBP/MB/MBA or about ?85 for the 15"/17" MBP. They generally send the code via email, and because it's a worldwide warranty, you can use a US code. Just make sure you do it before the 12 month warranty period's up - Apple sometimes let you extend it shortly after the 12 months, but it's at their discretion. PNWDweller
For what it is worth, the AppleCare is good and the best thing to use for your Mac. I didn't think I would ever need it, but my Hard Drive started squeeling and died within 1 year of use. Having the AppleCare warranty let me take it in to the shop and save $200+ in parts and labor. Sure, I could have bought a hard drive myself and put it in, but have you ever seen the insides of an iMac? Not for the faint of heart and not for me just yet. :)

I can do things with iMovie that I can't even do with PowerDirector 2009. It is awesome and flawless. Apple's are well known for the capabilities on the multimedia arena (video and photo editing) something I absolutely hate doing in Windows because of the lack of a "real" video editor that actually works without crashing. You will love your Mac.
