Free Microsoft Points?

Recommended Posts

I'd just like to point out I got the points needed, so thank you who messaged me with point offers - even had a sweet guy offering me 1250 points  I had to decline the offer as it would be greedy but still, major kudos (Y) Don't know whether I should name him or not, wouldn't want his PM inbox filled with people asking for the code

And for the record, I found out a friend owed me some money, enough to fetch me enough points for the nick-change and some misc. stuff

Well hell feel free to send your favorite ex Moderator some points if people are in the giving spirit.

I just spent 240 points on a cat, I had to since it actually looks like my cat!!! (okay my cat is way heavier, but he did once look like that LOL)

Do you buy clothes also? I think that's crazy, sorry :p

With the way MS points work on Live (denominations of numbers that never work out to cost exactly what you need to spend) you always have crappy small amounts left with nothing to spend them on...

Good way to get people to buy stuff like this.

I mean, what else can you buy with 240 points if you have like 285 left or something? :p

Oh no I am 100% with you. One and only thing I have ever purchased prior to the cat was my hat for 80 points, and that was because if I had to mark one "signature" item of clothing for me it would be Kangol hats, I have worn them for well over 20 years now. Although what I officially purchased is not a Kangol, I thought it was the closest I was ever going to get, and honestly as AB pointed ou,t 80 points is a pretty random number and I did not care. I just love my cat is all. ;)

Yeah, I wonder how much sales they're making with that. I don't really get it. I did buy one pair of jeans on there because they were pretty cool, so I can't say that I never splurged... LOL But I love jeans... The props are kind of neat, but I'm not really sure what you do with those...

I can tell you they are making a crap load of money. I played 1 vs 100 Live the other night, and I would say at least 50% of the crowd had on either full outfits (mainly COD MW2 and Assassins Creed 2) and / or football jerseys, all of which are at least 400 points each. Nevermind the people that had purchased T-Shirts, etc. etc. They are making a whole, whole lot of money from this whole thing.

I do agree with the fact that you always have odd amounts left over, and I've purchased a couple of themes for the old dashboard which are useless now. I learned my lesson and *never* purchase anything like that. Especially the clothes, as much as I've been tempted to get the Master Chief armor...

Really though, if you play games like 1 vs 100 where you look at your avatar frequently I can understand personalizing yourself. I, for one, don't ever see myself playing any game where I look at the avatar for any length of time. Looney toons!!

I feel that it is a great marketing ploy what Microsoft did with the point system. You are almost always left with odd numbers of points, unless you have self-control you will usually use that on something silly. Personally, I don't own a PS3 but one thing that makes me most envious is the ability to have really pretty customizable (FREE) themes. It would make me happy to have that ability on my XBOX.

Would just like to point out I don't have free codes or points to give away, AB was just kidding :p

@Saint Shiv, there isn't Master Chief armour available. Only UNSC, some of which is free via Halo Waypoint by unlocking achievements.

Anyone had any luck with the number in the UK ?

I gave it ago, sent a txt to +1 2477 and never got anything back!

I hoped to get 200 points to buy Sonic and Knuckles on my USA account as I own Sonic 1 - 3 on that. If i buy it on my UK one I wont be able to use the lock-on feature.

That's not as bad as if you buy from the Zune music store. Right now, I have 1 MSP in my account. *sigh*

The game that I want to buy is Sonic The Hedgehog 2. It's Deal of the Week for 240, but I've only got 200 MS points.

I also sent a text, but didn't get any sort of reply. :(
