Square Enix Ltd. has today revealed the European box art for the highly anticipated for Final Fantasy XIII. This latest project in the multi-platinum Final Fantasy series promises to be a compelling Role-Playing Game (RPG) release when it arrives on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 9th March 2010.

Cocoon - a utopia in the sky, its inhabitants believed their world to be a paradise. Under the Sanctum's rule, Cocoon had long known peace and prosperity. Mankind was blessed by its protectors, the benevolent fal'Cie, and believed that tranquil days would continue forever. Their tranquillity was shattered with the discovery of one hostile fal'Cie.

The moment that fal'Cie from Pulse - the feared and detested lowerworld - awoke from its slumber, peace on Cocoon came to an end. Fal'Cie curse humans, turning them into magic-wielding servants. They become l'Cie - chosen of the fal'Cie. Those branded with the mark of a l'Cie carry the burden of either fulfilling their Focus or facing a fate harsher than death itself. After thirteen days of fates intertwined, the battle begins.

Introducing new worlds, memorable characters and extraordinary stories with each new instalment, the Final Fantasy series has continued to reinvent itself over the last two decades and has shipped over eighty five million copies worldwide. The series is defined by a constant evolution, offering nothing less than the finest creative vision, graphical quality and gameplay system of its generation with every instalment, and Final Fantasy XIII promises to be no exception to this legacy.

Final Fantasy XIII is due for release simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in March 2010, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details

Variation is because of the box size. XBox are longer than the PS3.

I wonder what the US boxart will look like...

Yup, good point, slightly taller

Although they do seem to have moved lightning in a bit as well (box width is same, above pic makes it look like PS3 is wider, but it's not), as you can see more of her right thigh.

Going by the two box covers, this just proves that the xbox is really the sexbox </bad joke>

nice to see their attention to detail though, nipples pointing out and all...

I read somewhere about a PC version.. hopefully that still stands.

I haven't heard a thing about a PC version, only consoles, apart from FF11 only 7 and 8 made it onto the PC and weren't that huge sellers, so I very much doubt they invested time in a PC port for it.

Geez, a Final Fantasy box which is more than just the logo on a white background.

That's a new one.

Not really! A lot of the previous games have had box versions which just aren't the logo and have more art on them, for example:

That's the American releases though, this thread is about the EU box art, which has always been just a logo and a white background.

Yeah it should of been this to stay in line with all the other FF releases. Would prefer this tbh, "OMGZ HOT CHICK ON FRONT COVER MUST BUY GUIZ" doesn't do it for me.
