Final Fantasy XIII European Box Art Revealed

Recommended Posts

As i said at the botto, depends where ;)

*cries* I don't think you're quite following where I'm coming from. This breaks the norm, so it will look out of place in my FF collection! xD

So it's new to everyone in the EU, which includes me.

Yeah it should of been this to stay in line with all the other FF releases. Would prefer this tbh, "OMGZ HOT CHICK ON FRONT COVER MUST BUY GUIZ" doesn't do it for me.

Actually I prefer the "OMGZ HOT CHICK ON FRONT COVER MUST BUY..." thing... wait a sec, I am planning on buying Wet because of that :p

I read somewhere about a PC version.. hopefully that still stands.

That is not the case. they did release "The last remnant" for PC however Final Fantasy XIII will not get a PC release.

Don't.

I bought Wet. And she doesn't even look good on the cover, her mouth is unusually large. She puts Angelina Jolie to shame.

It is an awful game. You basically play the first 5 minutes over and over again, and the only way to play it is to do idiotic sliding and jumping moves all the time. That's kinda the game in a nutshell.

Anyway, more on FFXIII..? xD

Oh, I don't have all the normal cases for mine :( my FF games are stored atm but my 7 and 8 aren't the European cover versions, not sure how as they are UK games but I won't complain :)

It will suck if it ruins the collection though, hehe. I do love the art work though, I think the reason we get the basic white with logo, is everyone just sees that and instantly knows the series :)

Agreed (Y)

Square trying to be too "Western".

Square started being more "western" back with FF8 and it's change to more realistic looking characters instead of 7's SD designs. I don't care about the box art, only if the game is good itself. Game box art are like movie posters, in most cases they look better then the product they're trying to market.

The going more "western" I was hinting at was the bad side of what we in the west do with the games industry. The "omg violence girls sex boom explosion HARD ****** BALD SPACE MARINES ARGHHH bang bang pew pew MORE SPEED" ness.

The Japanese have always been quite modest, where as developers in the west try to make cover art usually look like something advertising to either a 13 year old who's just discovered women, or slap guns and angry looking characters, if bald the better, on a cover to look "bad ass". You hardly see any simplistic covers coming out from devs over here.

Good thing about FF boxes was the elegance and simplicity, this spoils that run and is clearly Square Enix going more "western" in the sense I mean above. Next we'll have Square prancing about gloating about their game months before release and how it's better than everything else, aka western devs.

haven't they been doing that with FFXIII for the last 4 or 5 years?

No, not really. Japanese devs hardly ever come out with the "our game is the best, our competitions reign is over, our game is more definitive" headlines. Usually it's "we're making what we think is a great game and have the utmost respect for our competition/competitors".

Now that Eidos have joined up with Square, who knows...

The only crime Japanese devs usually commit is teasing like there's no tomorrow, they rarely do complete blow outs 9 months before the game is out like some western devs do. See Square showing the same trailer + 10 seconds for 2~3 years for FF13, or how much of GT5 PD have shown us and it's due at the same time as FF13.

now all we need is a release date and box art for Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII began development as early as 2003, two or three years prior to E3 2006 in conjunction with Final Fantasy XIII, after the PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy VII Technical Demo was completed.

December 2010 in Japan, March 2011 in Europe/USA.

Much like FF13, but +1 year in each case. That's my guess.

Most people in the main development branch will now be and will have been working on FF13 Versus for a while, there will be a team currently tidying up any bits and bobs of the FF13 360 port for March, and the translation team will be working on the English dub/text. FF13 will have been feature and development complete for the PS3 for a while, it's due 16~17th of December in Japan I think it is?

Thought I might add that the North American box art has also been revealed.

Final Fantasy XIII Box Art That Looks At You (Update: US Box Art)

So it's identical...

Hmmm looks like we've got a universal case of the Final Fantasy XIII: Crotch Shot Edition then.

By the way, here's the special edition box for Japan

It looks odd to me. It's just her and a logo standing against a gradient. It doesn't feel like there's enough going on in the background. Fair enough if they'd stuck with just the logo. I think I prefer the Japanese box art.
