Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted January 14, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 14, 2010 A) they do make FF CGI movies and they DO sell millions B) FFXIII is rather difficult to tell if it is pre-rendered or active render cut scene (sort of you can REALLY tell on the 360 version)
Elessar
My whole beef is that if they'd rather be making movies, then why stick to a turn-based menu system with battle summaries after each encounter, which takes you out of the immersion rather quickly? If they're trying to make an interactive movie, I think they better be taking notes from Naughty Dog Comparing a shooter to an RPG...nice try. graphics wise, everyone can learn from ND, and while Uncharted 2's voice acting was top-notch, and some of the scenes/chapters were awesome, the story was quite disappointing. Massiveterra
what's wrong with comparing a shooter with an RPG? Because with western RPGs it's really hard to tell sometimes

slyph
compressed audio on 360 and unconfirmed 3 discs, so requires swapping. ps3 version has uncompressed audio and of course 1 disc. other than that, the game is said to be identical. some people assume it will not look as good on the 360 (since first designed for ps3 and then ported) but if its different at all it will be so minimal you wouldn't care. There may be a difference in CGI video quality, but until we get more details all speculation. Only fact is it will be multiple discs and won't have HD audio. .KICK
I am still undecided whether to buy this on Xbox 360 or PS3. Whichever I can get cheapest will probably decide for me. Not fussed about HD Audio and swapping discs.
George P Global Moderator Posted January 19, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted January 19, 2010 I already ordered my copy for the 360, I don't care about swapping discs and don't have any fancy sound setup going either.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 19, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 19, 2010 For those not caring about swapping discs you should maybe wait and see if you have a Star Ocean scenario on your hand but I doubt they'll be that sloppy with FF13 (for certain side quests you had to keep swapping discs about). It's not a multiplayer game, if you're a PS3/360 owner I would just go with the advantage of 1 disc, and potential for top end audio if you have a sound system - Unless you're an achievement ######. Plus FF13 Versus is PS3 only, at least you'd have both boxes to compliment each other if a multiplatform owner :p

PL_ Veteran Posted January 20, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2010 I'm holding off pre-ordering in case Play.com have some sort of offer closer to the time.
George P Global Moderator Posted January 20, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted January 20, 2010 I doubt it'll be like Star Ocean. I did the mutli-swap bit in that one to do some side quests, but for what I wanted to do it wasn't much of a problem. Plus SO4 had loads of videos and endings on the 3rd disc so i'll let the swapping slide. FF tends to just have one ending you get and that's it, maybe some little bonus clip after the credits as well. SO4, when I played it, I got the main ending PLUS all the bonus endings for each character AND the 2 special endings. all in all it's like, uhhh 10 endings give or take. Lots of video on disc 3. Also if ff13 is as linear through most of it as they say then I can see there being no swapping back and forth, just swap once like older FFs in the psx days and you're done. Unless, square is even more cut scene happy than tri=ace was. In the end though, I don't care much about that issue.

Razorwing
I really am excited.. I never owned a FF game ever.. Though I'm not a fan of turn based combat (just don't like the idea of you can defend yourself while getting hit) but I hope this one is a bit different. Besides the cinematics will be awesome. Motoko.
I would sex her right up. I have to take that seriously since it's Sheppard talking  The PS3 box art is just class though, the xbox banner on its box art doesn't really match as nicely as the ps3. Yeah its bad really, it did cross my mind as i pre ordered this version @ ?59.99 at the same time as cancelling the standard @ ?36.98 :( few extra bits are nice though... maybe Square should do what Sony are doing with Heavy Rain and provide a download of other region(better) covers. .KICK
The special edition of this game looks to me as a complete waste of money! I wonder if getting it on the Xbox 360 will have better load times with installing it to HDD.
