BajiRav
MS might regret this mass banning, seems like it sparked interest in the homebrew/piracy on the 360 (piracy of DLC and arcade content, the regular games have been pirated for a long long time) Most of the DLC is for multiplayer. At least till someone revives XBConnect etc, multiplayer=Live
Phemo
MS might regret this mass banning, seems like it sparked interest in the homebrew/piracy on the 360 (piracy of DLC and arcade content, the regular games have been pirated for a long long time) It doesn't really matter. The consoles that got banned recently would obviously have accepted the recent dash updates which block the exploit so banned consoles won't be able to do any homebrew anyway. It's not looking good for the possibility of another exploit either, so those banned boxes aren't going to get any alternative use any time soon. +InsaneNutter MVC Posted December 8, 2009 Author MVC Share Posted December 8, 2009 The only thing that sounds appealing to me is being able to play games from any region. So has this been released or is this just what we will see in the near future? Its been done! :) it was possible before the hacked kernels its just a lot easier now. All you need to do is patch your game with Xbox 360 Game Hack 5.2 and load it with XeX Loader 0.12 on a jtag hacked console.
+InsaneNutter MVC Posted January 1, 2010 Author MVC Share Posted January 1, 2010 Snes360 V 0.21 Beta, a Super Nintendo Emulator for the Xbox 360 has been released. Yes just about anything can emulate the Snes these days but you need to start somewhere right? Hopefully the start of big things to come for the 360 homebrew scene (Y) I quite like the achievements ;) not that I would get them on a profile that goes on live! Maybe a mod could change the thread title to The Xbox 360 Homebrew Thread? it would be more suitable I think.
Hylands
I'm definitely going to try this once I can get my hands on an old 360. Seems like it would be tons of fun, I could also borrow friends games from them and just install them to my HDD.

+InsaneNutter MVC Posted January 1, 2010 Author MVC Share Posted January 1, 2010 Great news for people who dont want to buy a modchip for freeBOOT. A new version of XBReboot has been released for all 16MB NAND motherboards solving the freezing/lagging issues and removing the need to patch XEX files (media / region check). XBReboot is an image you can flash on your onboard NAND that will allow you to reboot a JTAG-exploitable 360 in a patched 8955 kernel which makes homebrew (unsigned XEXs etc) possible. mad_onion
but this still all requires a hardware modification? and I won't work on the newest software?
WastedJoker
Wow, look at all the cheapskates :/ Why is this discussion even allowed on Neowin?
Richard Hammond
What does homebrew have to do with being cheapskates? I would love an Xbox 360 powered XBMC machine.
The_Observer
^^ Freeboot to get me XBMC 360 would be great! i have the lack of codecs that the current 360 has, and it would make a cheap and great media center machine!
+InsaneNutter MVC Posted January 2, 2010 Author MVC Share Posted January 2, 2010 but this still all requires a hardware modification? and I won't work on the newest software? Yup, its unlikely you will ever be able to softmod the 360 like you could with the Xbox, but never say never. You need a console manufactured before June 16th 2009 with the dashboard version 7371 or lower. Wow, look at all the cheapskates :/Why is this discussion even allowed on Neowin? Homebrew isant piracy... Neowin has also had a DS Homebrew thread since 2006. As we can talk about OSx86 and homebrew for other consoles I don't see this thread been a problem. No one has actually posted links to any tools legal or illegal.
AbandonedTrolley
As long as the discussion is on Homebrew I don't think there is a problem. As mentioned there is a DS Homebrew section and it looks like the 360 is heading that way too (Y) Nice to see it getting unlocked and people being able to take advantage of other uses for the machine. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted January 7, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 7, 2010 Back in the day we had an official homebrew topic dedicated to chipping the original Xbox. No reason why it can't be posted now.
