Turtle Beach P21, best ps3 headset?

Recommended Posts

Amazon.com - Turtle Beach P21

I'm tired of blue tooth head sets, all of them.

I'm looking for the best headphones + mic combo to play online games and listen to blu rays at night.

Turtle beach makes a great looking 7.1 headset for the 360. The P21 is the first and only (to my recognition) headset made by them for the PS3, and unfortunately, it is not 7.1. I owned a stereo, 360 headset made by TB, and played 500+ hours of Halo 3 with it sitting on my head. Needless to say, it was rather enjoyable.

With the variety of sound settings the PS3 slim offers, it would be a lot of fun to use high quality phones.

Would you guys say wait for a potential 7.1 set, buy the P21 for $80, or try a different model?

Amazon were selling these for $59 during Black Friday, so I bought a pair for late night gaming/watching movies. They've been delivered to my parents who are in Florida.

Obviously don't have a mic, but late at night I'm usually watching movies/tv shows more than gaming anyway.

I guess this post was quite irrelevant  I've never used any Turtle Beach headphones, just wanted to chip in and say I had the same thought as yourself, using the PS3 late at night on my 5.1 setup tends to still send bass booms throughout the house even on lower volumes - Then when you use lower volumes on sound systems to minimize special effect volume (booms/bangs/explosions) it's sometimes harder to hear speech.

As for 7.1, I dunno, to be fair I think stereo with a surround sound effect will probably be good enough for headphones, the sounds already intimate enough from the point of view you're using headphones and not speakers positioned specific distances away from you - However that's a biased "guess", I've not used 5.1/7.1 headphones.

I looked at those when looking to buy some headphones, but decided against wireless in the end, plumped with these instead.

Have to say that I did also look into turtle beach headsets but couldn't seem to find a retailer or a dcent review of PS3 versions only 360 at the time :(

I already have a pair of HD595's, issue is wired headphones from my receiver would be a pain in the ass. However the distance is not the sort that should cause any sort of interference with a RF signal, and I live in a village, nothing outside like a radio tower or anything :p

Plus they cost me ?36 all in:))
