+Majesticmerc MVC Posted December 3, 2009 MVC Share Posted December 3, 2009 I would also suggetst the Half-life series, since HL2 and its sequels are still some of the best games ever :). If you're confused about the story, take a look at the Half-Life Saga Timeline, which tells you about the events leading up to Half-Life 2 :) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is good too. When it came out it was buggy as hell, but they've patched all of the game-breaking bugs out now and (in my experience) it plays just as well as any other game now. Clear Sky isn't as good, but the original game is definitely worth considering. If you're into "simulation shooters", then maybe something from the ARMA or Operation Flashpoint series may appeal to you?
Sethos
If you're into "simulation shooters", then maybe something from the ARMA or Operation Flashpoint series may appeal to you? OFP2 is NOT simulation, it's arcade crap - Stick to the ArmA series.
Spysix
Good Games: Grid - Only if you have a wheel or are going to play it on a consoleand . . . . . . . . Command And Conquer Red Alert 3 :) You probably didn't play the 2nd, otherwise Red Alert 3 is a tragedy. I'd recommend Mafia. One of my favorite games. It's also one of the shooters that when you reload, you lose the little extra ammo you had left on the last clip. Can't wait for the next mafia game. Smigit
ATM probably Borderlands. A lot of fun Possibly add Bioshock as another good quality FPS. It's older and doesn't meet your graphics criteria possibly but I'd be tempted to recommend Far Cry 1 if you liked the sequel...to be honest I liked it a lot more than either FC2 or Crysis although some people would stone me to death for admitting to that. +Anarkii Subscriber² Posted December 3, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted December 3, 2009 +1 for borderlands Also a classic, and a game ure certainly will get into, The Secret of Monkey Island special edition. Torchlight is a good game too, kinda like diablo. Other then that, for FPS's id suggest any Tom Clancy based one. They are alll good!
Smigit
^^ Oblivions an RPG. If I was to recommend one to him on his tastes and knowing he doesn't want an RPG I'd probably go fallout for the FPS element. Still, both games are pretty RPG heavy. Smigit
RPG heavy??? not for me :) I should clarify that. They aren't especially stat or plot heavy but both are very quest driven. Fallout 3 was probably my fav game last year but as before, I wouldn't recommend it to a non RPG fan. If you get Borderlands and do like it maybe try fallout but. Borderlands does lean towards the FPS genre more so I'm inclined to think its more to your liking, but if you really enjoy it Fallout may be something you will enjoy too.
