RuudJacobs.NET
I can't access my printer settings under system settings anymore, nor can I print anything without freezing the app. The last thing I did was removing CUPS-PDF permanently (because it stopped working). I then reinstalled it, but couldn't access printer settings in the system settings screen. My OS is 10.6.2, on a ?1,5 year old macbook pro. What can I do to regain access to my printer settings? Thanks! edit: This keeps showing up in console, repeatedly: Dec 3 00:48:24 macbookpro com.apple.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd[1047]): Exited with exit code: 1 Dec 3 00:48:24 macbookpro com.apple.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd): Bug: launchd_core_logic.c:4562 (23932):2 Dec 3 00:48:24 macbookpro com.apple.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd): Path monitoring failed on "/private/var/spool/cups/cache/org.cups.cupsd": No such file or directory Dec 3 00:48:24 macbookpro com.apple.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds Dec 3 00:48:34 macbookpro /usr/sbin/cupsd[1052]: Unable to read configuration file '/private/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting! RuudJacobs.NET
The problem just got worse, Airport is also unable to load, so I'm now officially not able to decently use my MBP anymore, any ideas?
RuudJacobs.NET
after 6 hours of research and experimenting, Ive tried just about everything. I removed some settings files, in order to reset the settings, which didn't get me anywhere. Well, at least I can open the airport utility again, but it still doesnt work. Cant access my printer settings, some programs (like vmware, diskwarrior) wont start. I reinstalled cups, so there aren't any missing files. Strange enough I cant verify permissions on my HDD, can't add remove or edit a printer, I can just use pages and read my offline mail. Trying to hook up to my wireless network in the terminal via the airport commands or the sudo ifconfig en1 commands don't work. Ethernet doesn't work, firewire works, tethering over my phone doesn't work, reinstalling the osx 10.6.2 patch didn't work, I don't have the basesystem.pkg anywhere. I'm going to try to extract it from my SL DVD (which was severely scratched on delivery) and try to run the .pkg, to see what happens. Does ANYone have an idea that might help me or even put me in the right direction, I'm approaching the end of my knowledge here...
Elliott
Sounds your system is just way f'ed up somehow. Can you put your data onto an external drive and just try a reinstall?
RuudJacobs.NET
Yup it is. I'm backing up now, reinstalling after. I've had it ;)
RuudJacobs.NET
OK, I fixed it by booting of an external disk with a SL partition on it, "reinstalled" SL and everything is fine, no files touched. Yee can close this topic!
