Darrian
Demo's been out for a bit, I'm sure people have some idea of how the battle system works. What demo, where can I get it, and how can it exist when there is no indication whatsoever that any development has even begun yet?
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted December 7, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 7, 2009 What demo, where can I get it, and how can it exist when there is no indication whatsoever that any development has even begun yet? FF13 demo was included in the BR release of Advent Children in Japan. It's an old build of the game though.

If you read through, my response was to carmatic's post about F13. Demo is on the Advent Children Japanese blu-ray.
hackdoom
A FFVII remake could be interesting. However, due to high expectations, I'm unsure whether it could be called a success or not. FFVII is amazing as it is, so why take the risk of ruining it?
Darrian
If you read through, my response was to carmatic's post about F13. Demo is on the Advent Children Japanese blu-ray. My bad. I only read the part you quoted from his post and assumed we were talking about Final Fantasy VII, since, you know, that's what this thread is about? XIII I would imagine is done now since it's due to be released like this month I think, so I guess an old demo of that really isn't interesting or noteworthy. @CrownedClown03: Actually, FF7 is unfinished as it is, since they had to cut some stuff out to make the release date. A remake would allow them to show us the FF7 story as it was originally envisioned in its entirety. Plus a lot of people can't even play it anymore without an emulator or a PS3 (It may vary, but my HDTV doesn't support 640x480).

Yeah, i dont they will ever remake FFVII, as it main fanbase would be the original FFVII fans and no matter how good it is, they will always rate the original higher. They wont remake FFVII, when they can just keep making spin-offs.

hackdoom
@CrownedClown03: Actually, FF7 is unfinished as it is, since they had to cut some stuff out to make the release date. Plus a lot of people can't even play it anymore without an emulator or a PS3 (It may vary, but my HDTV doesn't support 640x480). I posted my opinion only considering that they would want to release a polished, high-def FFVII remake (an enhanced remake), without making, or adding, any considerable changes to the original FFVII game's established story. Moreover, the people who would want to play a high-def remake should already own or be planning to buy a PS3 (or 360?), or where else do you think that they could get a chance to play it? @Crompee: I agree. It would probably turn out better if they would just tell more of the FFVII story through a PS3 and/or 360 game. Something similar to Crisis Core, on the PSP. Darrian
LOL, I dunno, PS One? PS2? PC (via emulation)? I'll buy a PS3 eventually, probably, but it's not worth $300 solely to play a game that was made like 12 years ago, nor is it viable to not buy a HDTV just so you can play some old PS One games. Also, how exactly would buying a 360 help in any way?

Rudy
Is FF7 the best in the series? It depends who you ask, I personally prefer the old school Final Fantasy so I would say the "best" in the series is 4 with 6 closely behind....but I'm sure lots of people will disagree with me ;)
PyX
Is FF7 the best in the series? In my opinion, yes. It's one of the first 3D games I've played, my first game on my PlayStation, the game that taught me how to read and write the English language, the game that made me discover the existence of RPGs, ... It's a sentimental value for me, seriously! Sooooo yeah, even though I'm a guy, I guess this game gave me an emotion! But the question isn't there, it's that it's the most liked and the most played Final Fantasy ever. A lot of people would love a remake of this, the rumours are there and it's not for nothing. I bet it will be a launch title for the PS4. 1080p@60fps. Why make it a PS3 title when you can wait another 3, 4 years and make it an even more successful game on the PS4, with all this awesome, upcoming technology to make the task easier. Since the beginning of the rumours, this remake has been on my wish list. So I won't get it this Christmas, but maybe in 3-4 Chrismtmases I might finally put my hands on it :) Hehe
gigapixels Veteran Posted December 7, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 7, 2009 Is FF7 the best in the series? That's a very subjective question  I personally like FF VIII the most, but I seem to be in a minority.
rajputwarrior
i would love a remake of either ones, but definitely would love a remake of 9, my fav one of them all. but like somone said in an earlier post, they should be a remake, not a re-imagining. I even read the post a couple times before I replied, and I could have sworn that you'd written asking how else one might play the original game, not a remake, d'oh. switch6
I REALLY want an FF9 remake... +10. I really like FF9. I loved FF4, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, FFX, and FFXII. Can't wait for XIII and the next version of FF Online (FFIV).
PyX
Yeah, FF9 was also insane. It deserves more attention... but maybe a remake of FF7 first? As it's older and it aged faster... FF9 isn't all that beautiful today, but not as bad as FF7!
Starcom826
An FF7 remake would be worth it just for the OST.
carmatic
another reason for a remake of FF7 was like, it already has a link to the PS3 in the form of the tech demo... its nothing more than the opening sequence, and to show off how realistic the hair on the characters are in realtime, but it has already set a precedent in a way... the only other thing i can think of is the techdemo for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2000 where they had a realistic Zelda demo going on, but the only game that remotely resembled that was Twilight Princess in 2007... but hopefully Square Enix would do things differently
Pablo2008jedi
I don't know if I would want a FFVII remake, the game itself is fantastic and brought me into the RPG genre. Since 7 I have played every one in the series after it. FFVII is a classic and should remain where it is.

D.J.P
Same here, but that's due to not playing VII on my part ;) Same here. FF8 was my first Final Fantasy Game, and so remains my favourite (even though I own all the FF games that are on PS/PS2 - and played them all). I'd love a FF8 Remake, but I'd settle for it appear on the PSN, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Never got into the hype of 7.
Gotenks98
As of now this would be the only thing that would make me get a ps3. I been screaming about this for a while now and I know it would have been the tiping point for sony. If they would put money into it to make it a ps3 exclusive that would have gotten ps3 to sell even when its still overpriced for what it does.
