Zoom7000
I'm pretty new to the Apple Mac scene. I have just started using an iMac (24 inch) regularly at work and I'm starting to use a MacBook Pro more and more at home. (Loving the Magic Mouse!) ;) Being a Windows person through and through, the first thing I did was install Windows 7 using Boot Camp. :p As I'm gradually getting used to Mac OS X and finding it much easier to use VMware Fusion (Fantastic piece of software!) to do my Windows tasks, I'd like to know if it's possible to reclaim the Boot Camp partition and make the Macintosh HD 1 large partition again as opposed to 2 separate partitions, without having to do a reformat? bob_loblaw
Yea just open up the Boot Camp Assistant and it'll delete the Windows partition and combine it again. Takes about 30 seconds.

truba11a
i don't wanna hijack this thread but rather than opening a new thread my question interconnects with this question I installed windows 7 via boot camp i didn't want it anymore because I use parallels now. anyway i restored the partition with boot camp and everything but anytime i reboot or shutdown it doesn't boot up osx it says to insert boot disc, and then if you put the windows disc in it runs the installation of windows, if I turn the computer off and on again and hold the option key i can select the Macintosh HD and osx loads up fine, is there anyway to fix this? System Preferences >> Startup Disk >> Select your Mac/OSX System Disk then restart It should now be set to default to your OSX , however something must have gone wrong if it still seeing your Windows Install in the Startup Disk box

It is really cool, for sure. But I wish we would get the same performance and features with the Boot Camp partition. It would be nice to save states but I guess there are some technical limitations (like what if you try to boot that partition while it is saved in a state in VMWare). I was using it in 'virtual disk' mode at first and it was a lot better. Now I'm booting off a BootCamp partition and it is frustratingly slow to boot and it suck to have to do a full shutdown on it. Can I import my boot partition into a virtual disk, but leave it be? Will Windows 7 activation throw a fit about being on a disk partition and a virtual disk? truba11a
well when I reboot or shut down and hold the option key it doesn't show a 2nd partition
PNWDweller
You can hold down the Menu button on your Apple remote during startup before the Apple logo and it should force the partition chooser.
