carmatic
hey guys... i just noticed that they have began putting up christmas trees downstairs, and this brought a thought to my mind... what is your favourite snow/ice/frozen/winter theme levels from games? it could be the level design, a memorable moment, or in my case more often than not its the music.... ice cave - donkey kong country ... my first exposure to the concept of nice music in ice theme levels ice cap zone - sonic 3 ... what made it stand out for me recently is how the original version of the background music sounds like Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal' ice cage - ace combat 5 ... very energetic, atmospheric and emotional beaver mountains - carmageddon 2 ... well i just like this level because you could put your car down the tobogan sled

The only map / level still fresh in my mind is Derail from MW2, really is an awesome map ( My favourite map in fact ) and the snow atmosphere is perfect. I especially liked the first snow world where you went down the large slide, saved the baby penguin, and crafted a giant snowman. The music was great too. carmatic
Oh yeah... I especially liked the first snow world where you went down the large slide, saved the baby penguin, and crafted a giant snowman. The music was great too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwV44mBU_L8 ahh yes, not just a snow level, but one with a soundtrack which is appropriately christmassy.... the other one i can think of is the gameboy colour version of Donkey Kong Country 3 ... it had music different from the original SNES version from almost 10 years ago, and the redone music for the ice levels are very christmassy... although its abit short, but i suppose thats how actual live music sounds like in snow covered towns etc.... -KJ
SSX! and Super Mario 64 The one where you slid down from the peak of the mountain... maybe this is the only snow level? I also remember the SNES Star Wars game (Empire Strikes Back, I think?) having a snow level. And the one on Gamecube blew my mind away graphically (I wasn't a PC gamer :p), I think it was a demo I saw at Wal-Mart or Best Buy. Oh, and some Dr. Seuss demo on the PSX. Some TimeSplitters level had snow in it, also. :)
