kurono
East Meets West ? Yakuza 3 Coming In 2010b>Hi guys I?m Kevin, Online Community Manager at SEGA Europe and known to those in the SEGA fraternity as ArchangelUK (or AAUK for short) pleased to meet you. One of my responsibilities as it were is dealing with our classic franchises, so I?m especially delighted to be able to at last confirm something that we?ve been working on for what seems like forever. YAKUZA 3 IS COMING TO THE WEST! Yes indeed, Europe and America will be getting the chance to take on the mantle of Kiryu Kazuma this time battling the Ryudo Ikka, and once again Yakuza will be an exclusive for the PlayStation 3. Yakuza (or Ryu ga Gotoku as its known in the East) has a highly dedicated fanbase and the series has a very hardcore following over on this side of the globe. Yakuza 3 has already sold over half a million copies in Japan alone and whilst the wait has been long for our US, European and Australian fans you won?t have to wait much longer ? the game will be out March 2010. So yes your pleas for Yakuza 3 were heard loud and clear, I?ll allow Gary Knight ? SOE?s European Marketing Director, to explain more: ?Yakuza 3 was one of the most requested titles for localisation by our European SEGA community, so we are delighted to be able to fulfil their wishes with this announcement. As well as delving even further into the rich narrative of the Yakuza universe, the development team have pushed the PlayStation 3 hardware to the limits to produce a beautiful and startlingly realistic depiction of the Japanese underworld.? As part of the lengthy localisation work Yakuza 3 will feature full English subtitling, whilst maintaining the rich Japanese voice actors that bring an extremely engaging atmosphere to the game ? this will no doubt please the purists out there! Also using our incredible powers of persuasion and dark (blue) magic, we?ve been able to get you guys on the PSB.EU an exclusive interview with the developers of the game. So, if there?s anything you?d like to ask the team about the games production post it in the comments section below. We will then pick the best ones and send them over to Japan. Yakuza 3 is coming ? will you fight like a *****-cat or more Like a Dragon? Source So it has finally been confirmed! It's great that they're doing to Yakuza 2 style - English subs and keeping the Japanese voice overs. I think it's safe to say that whether or not Yakuza 4 comes over here will be dependent on the sales of Yakuza 3.

Win! Even although Yakuza 1 splashed out on awesome english voice actors, it felt much more authentic in Yakuza 2 having Japanese voice overs. I'll definitely be picking this up, Yakuza is a ****ing awesome series. Now, who wants to lend me some cash to buy the avalanche of PS3 titles hitting Q1/Q2 next year? :( I've still got to pickup Ratchet and Clank! ienhz
They are setting this game up for failure with that release date. Whoever does the marketing for this game needs to get fired. They've pretty much butchered that aspect of this series (in North America) for each release.
hackdoom
^Yeah, this game is going to have some tough competition in March, next year.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 10, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted December 10, 2009 To be fair Yakuza 3 is a game that's going to sell to a minority hardcore audience, if they can get in the region of 100-200k sales in America first month it'll most likely be a financial success. Remember it's just subtitles, game isn't being ported/remade/redone/content added, just translated. The audience that want this game, well, want this game... They'll buy it no matter what month it comes out. All Sega have to do is make sure the advertising and supply of the game is at least targeted well towards the audience that want the game. Yakuza 2 didn't get an EU release either I don't think, just US, so everyone in the EU most likely pirated it due to region locking. No piracy on PS3, it's region free and the game is getting an EU release anyway. Regardless of how good it is, trying to sell a game based heavily on Japanese lore that comes only in subtitles would be near impossible to throw at casual gamers in any month. Most people are too busy with the next FPS game to care about a Japanese set brawler/RPG.
