Biggest game disappointment of 2009

Recommended Posts

My 360 pretty well went unplayed this entire year I can't even think of a single exclusive from the past year thats worth mentioning. So I guess the 360 as whole was a disappointment.

Yeah actually I was just thinking this last night. A lot of media outlets have talked about how this has been one of the best years for gaming, and I just have to scratch my head, as looking back on it it has actually been fairly weak.

Batman:AA made it a lot better for me.....

Can't believe how many people think MW2 is a disappointment. I can't get that. They've made a game that's faster paced, much more dynamic and intense in SP with introduction of a couple of clever functionality add-ons. The MP experience is absolutely MIND-BLOWING. It's probably several times better then COD4 in every aspect. I would only say that there was some disappointment in story itself in SP as I thought it was rushed and not fleshed out or understandable enough. The gameplay on the other hand was mind blowing, especially at the beginning when you are driving in a Humvee through middle-eastern narrows streets. And spec-ops are HEAPS of fun with a friend. Especially under Charlie when you have to go through enemy territory avoiding snipers and patrols.

But back to disappointments. My picks are:

1. NFS Shift - absolute garbage that felt like someone who never made a racing game before made it.

2. WET (I actually had a lot of high hopes as early reviews suggested off the charts John-Woo-like action with a hot chick, but it turned to to be so repetitive and just boring)

3. Operation Flashpoint 2 (wow, what a disappointment)

For me it had to be:

1. Wolfenstein - I loved return to castle wolfenstein, but the new game is just BAD. I cannot figure out why they decided to add the sandbox elements or the "powers"!

2. Resident Evil 5 - This was such a pain to play, I gave up pretty early on. They went the action route and kept the same crappy survival horror controls. And when the "pyramid head clone" appeared, it was just sad.

3. MW2 - This was just TOO easy, and too short. Its like they pulled out all the setpieces from every major action movie, and built the game around that. Cheesy as hell.

I agree, I don't understand what they were expecting that made them think it was so disappointing. But it was bound to happen. No matter what IW did someone would have been disappointed.

Red Faction Guerilla - because there's still no patch to get the game to work

..? I've never had an issue with the game. Although I'd say it's more or less as demanding as Crysis for no good reason though.

Uh the idea isn't to complete the game and then put it down. You're meant to keep going again, and again, and again. The game throws zombies at you differently each time you play, and it all depends how you play too.

That's not true, a lot of games have DRM, but require you to have the DVD in the drive for checking, not Internet access. You can get Borderlands on Steam, however it's not tied to Steam in anyway. I didn't have Internet access when I bought it, so I didn't know you needed it until the install was almost over and it was trying to connect to the server. So, Gearbox lost my sale. I don't know if I want to buy it now that I have Internet access again.

Wait. Borderlands doesn't use the Steam DRM, but instead uses SecuRom? That is pretty weak. I bought Borderlands on Steam so I couldn't have more **** installed.

I'd like to add Fat Princess to this list. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game. But because my friends list is usually inactive as a whole and a weak online community, I think this game could have been so much more.

It's the running at 2x speed problem I've got with it. They've been talking about a patch since it was released.

Troubles
