Firesky announces Stargate Resistance video game

Recommended Posts

Firesky and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, the studio behind the financially troubled but still-in-production MMO role-playing game Stargate Worlds, is working on a second video game title, they announced today. Stargate Resistance is an online, third-person shooter currently in the final stages of development.

The game?s official Web site went live today at StargateResistance.com. The game will be released in the first quarter of 2010, according to the site.

Resistance will let players take on the role of Stargate Command or the Goa?uld System Lords, with the fate of the galaxy in the balance. There are six character classes: Soldiers, Commandos, and Scientists on the S.G.C. side, and Goa?uld, Jaffa, and Ashrak assassins on the side of the System Lords. Each class will come with its own unique blend of weapons, items, and weaknesses.

Players will be able to work with teammates in three multiplayer modes (up to 16 players at once): ?Team Death Match,? ?Capture the Tech,? and ?Domination.? Additional game modes are planned for release shortly after the game?s launch.

Sounds like a game I'd prefer to the MMO, but I'm not so sure I like the idea of a third-person shooter. I'd much rather have a first-person shooter. Hopefully this Stargate game actually gets released.

amazing how the company cannot get enough money together to finish producing their first game *Stargate Worlds* however they can announce yet another game and have a hopefull release date. How does that work exactly.

It looks like they just took a whole bunch of assets from the MMO and made a few changes to make it into a third-person shooter. This way the can get some revenue while they continue to work on the mmo. Looking at some of the images the graphics look like the game should have been released 3+ years ago :x

ANNOUNCING THE LAUNCH DATE AND PREORDER OF STARGATE: RESISTANCE!!!

On FEBRUARY 10TH, 2010

FireSky will be releasing the first Stargate PC shooter ever to come to market! ?I want to personally thank everyone for their enthusiasm and support. It?s incredibly exciting to be releasing our first game as a studio, especially with such a great license,? said Shane Hensley, President of the Studio. In this fast-paced 3rd person shooter, gamers will have the chance to be either Stargate Command or the System Lords as they use the Stargate to travel and battle for galactic dominance.

I'm a fan of Stargate, but this game just doesn't look that appealing. It looks like it was just cobbled together from pieces of Stargate Worlds and rushed to the market to raise some cash.

It was released on Steam today. After looking at some recent screenshots the graphics don't look half bad. I'm still not sure about picking it up though. I'm a Stargate fan , but I literally have about 20 games on steam that I bought but still haven't had time to play.

Under Chapter 11 they can still operate though and continue to update SGR and hopefully make SGW. Plus, they started legal proceedings against their own CEO (who they fired) for being a douche and he's pretty much why the company is in deep doo doo. (along with several other shady things he's done in the past)
