Steam Weekend Deal Counter Strike Source

Recommended Posts

Too bad Source never had the same feel as vanilla Counter-strike, didn't have the same precision and 'sharpness' when shooting and the first few years the hitboxes and bullet lag was a joke, did they fix that?

No.

Hitboxes in source games are a joke even in the newest iterations of the engine like l4d. They need to like completely re-write their netcode.

I don't know why, but to me Tactical Intervention looks like a crappy game. The graphics look really dated and the gameplay looks exactly like CS. I think for $5 this game is worth getting. Many people like CS 1.6, and many people also like CS:S. I played both and I think both are awesome games and I suggest you guys get both.

Finally, someone that feels the same way I do about Counter-Strike: Source.

I disagree. I think it's bad in the first batch of Source-based games like CS:S and HL2. Over the years, it's been improving. Left 4 Dead 2, for instance, has superb hit detection. And TF2 isn't too bad either.

Anyway, CS:S isn't 100% bad and it's definitely worth $5. I'd suggest getting it if you've never tried it before. It's an interesting game.

If I didn't have it, I'd get it at that price for sure. I mean, not sure how popular it is today with Call of Duty eating up the FPS crowd, but I've had some great times playing CS:S, despite the crappy hitboxes as mentioned above. Though, to be fair, I put a lot time into the Zombie Mod. Nothing like surviving by pulling vending machines around you hiding in a delivery truck, with the lovely sounds of zombies running rampant as the infection spreads.

I have 100 hours of l4d2 and 700 of l4d, I love them. But saying the hitboxes are superb is just ridiculous. The charger in l4d2 is SO bad constantly going straight through people on 50 ping servers, sometimes e3ven bouncing off of the survivors themselves. jockey is complete crap, you constantly jump and run up on them not connecting. Hunter has always been iffy, many times you land right on top of survivors heads and just don't connect.

TF2 does have a lot better hit detection than l4d/2 though.

Now you know why they are giving it away for $5.00

Who doesn't have CS:S by now?

I don't. :(

I used to play the first CS nonstop for hours, but for some reason, I didn't buy any of the following releases. I won't pass this deal, however.
