Recommend a gamepad for pc?

Lame. Wonder why they did that? Or didn't in this case..

My guess? If you really want the black controller for your PC, you can buy the additional wireless dongle for an additional $19.99 retail and use a black wireless controller, so in turn they make even more money. So considering the wired controllers are less expensive than the wireless, I think it is just a cheap way of them forcing people to spend more money for a color. That's my guess anyway.

It seems that many game programmers are programming first around the pad that most people use, so another vote for 360. Some games even use the 360 button colors on the controller setup screen. Not all PC gamepads are made as well as a 360 controllers for many hours of use, plus you can use it on a 360 if needed.

(Y) Another vote for the xbox 360 controller. Nothing can touch it on PC as other's have mentioned, most games work great with it and even read and use its button settings, and with Games on Demand for Games for Windows coming out later today, its even better :)

The Xbox 360 controller is the best, as almost anyone here already said.

If you want a different color than white, buy any you like like black or red or whatever, but you will need to buy the USB wireless receiver.

If you don't care, buy the one that says Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, which already has the wireless receiver and save some money.

I would not recommend buying the wired one. It's cable is too long and you will find yourself cursing at the unused length more often than not if you play right next to the PC.

Somehow I wasn't imagining that to be a controller still fugly as hell...

Why don't you first try it?

Ugh, that's awful!

Why do people insist on trolling a thread about hardware they don't use, just to plug the hardware they do use, seems kind of stupid & immature to me. :shifty:

The xbox 360 controller on the other hand, from what I've read about it seems to work with most games these days without any issues.

As long as you don't try to play older games. Lack of programming software is unforgivable.

I've both Xbox 360 pad and Logitech Dual Action pad, the latter has much better d-pad and comes with proper software.

Exactly what I was thinking. People seem to forget that there ARE unsupported games, and that there might be better controllers than the one they're using.

Accept no substitutions.

I like it even better than the 360 one everyone's ranting on and on about.

I've been through 2 of those, dissasembled them completely, because of some malfunction, first one the joystick stopped working and the second one, just stopped working. (first one was wired, second one wireless)

In all honestly, versus build quality i'd say the 360 wins hands down. But I will agree that the logitechs D pad is much better. ON the software bid, there's tons out for both :)

well i use these chinese ones..

its like a dual shock.. just bulky so u get better grip .. it has rubber around handle area and rest is like a dual shock but the d-pad is like round.. just like the logitech one above..

but best thing about it is that

all my friends use them really hard. and any good gamepad will break in their hand.. so these ones i bought cost just 8 USD :p each..

the drivers come with them.. so rumble work :)

and yes it works with win7..

the company name is X5tech..

i dont know if u can find these .. but these cheap gamepads work great..

ive used xbox 360 and this is not bad compared to it :)

Ever since the Dirt 2 thread I always wondered what brand you were talking about, haha. But I can't find them for sale anywhere :/

Since Microsoft don't like you using unsigned drivers, using my PS3 controller in Win 7 is a no-no because you have to press f8 to disable driver signing

This leaves me with no option but to buy a separate pad for my pc.

Any recommendations?

why doesn't your ps3 controller work?

my ds3 works fine in windows 7 x64...
