is the force unleashed out on the pc?

Yes, it is on PC, but if you're going to get it, then get: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition

As Cy-Kill said it is out and the Sith edition I have seen for like ?25 for the PC in Game, it adds a few extras to the original game and the end creates a 'what if' situation surronding Vaders apprentice, I'm still going to get this for the xbox though when I have finished all the other games I have o_O

The PC version is only available as the Ultimate Sith Edition, so that's not a concern. This is just a "director's cut" sort of update--like the PC version of Assassin's Creed--not a special/collector's edition.

It's been out for awhile, actually. I strongly suggest that you get the X360/PS3 version instead. The PC version is a poor port. And I mean poor. It wasn't even ported by LucasArts. That job was foolishly given to Aspyr Media. Check out GameSpot's review here, they summed it up well.

One thing that really stands out in the system requirements is that the game is listed as requiring 30gb's for the install. That seems to be a lot. I've never seen any other game require that much, not even WoW. On second thought there was was AoC...but that was a big mmo.

it was patched... the game runs a lot better now... More smooth .... runs great on my machine and i'm not running anything too spectacular..

that's good to know.

Here's how bad it is...

  • There is no mouse cursor in the main menu or anywhere, for that matter.
  • You can't change the graphics settings in-game (the launcher only allows you to change the resolution, controls, and offers a check-box that says "High detail").
  • The game pauses a lot to load, even when you're playing (e.g. in the middle of combat).
  • The graphics aren't that impressive. There are glitches everywhere.
  • The only real good thing is the impressive physics and material engine.

The lack of graphics options and poor performance should tell you that this game is a rushed port, plain and simple. There's just no love for PC gaming these days. A game like this could have been amazing if it was done right on the PC.

You should've tried to get into the Closed Beta of "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes", the download at the time was 27GB, yes you heard me, but if not I'll say it again: the download was 27GB. And, that wasn't installed yet.

  • 4 weeks later...

I had the pleasure to try this game as well...and it's bad! While it worked smoothly, it was totally unplayable on the pc. Sad, since i wanted to play it so much.

30 mins is enough to know that the rest of the game wont be good.

This is a rather craptacular port from Aspyr, but nonetheless still a fun game.

I've got a GTX 260, 3 GB RAM, and a 3 GHz C2D and it runs very smoothly at 1920x1080.

Make sure that if you do get the PC version that you immediately get the latest patch, it fixes a TON of bugs that were present during the initial release (not just any bugs, I'm talking show stopper crash-your-computer bugs at certain points in the game)

I'd recommend either getting this for console, or getting your XBOX 360 controller to work with the game. The targeting mechanism for the game is terrible for the mouse.

Looking through the thread I have a few comments. From what I saw the console version was "craptacular," so in that regard I think it's a great port indeed. I'm not even being sarcastic; the first level when you play as Vader is really bad, but once you get into the game proper I thought it performed quite well at 1080P on my somewhat aging GeForce 9800 GTX. You do not need an "Ultra Crysis" computer at all, a low-end gaming rig will do just fine. As far as the patches go I didn't notice any difference between pre-patch and post-patch, except that pre-patch crashed every once in a great while after several hours of play the game itself would crash. There were certainly no system-killing bugs whatsoever, whoever wrote that is an idiot and is greatly exaggerating. The only real problem with the game is trying to force grip stuff and either missing or grabbing the wrong thing, and from what reviews I've read that seems to be an issue across all platforms, it's not PC-specific. It was not by any means the greatest Star Wars game ever made, but it was really pretty, the controls are fairly decent (do yourself a favor and get a gamepad, I couldn't imagine playing it with the keyboard/mouse), and overall it was fun, it just wasn't the kind of game you would want to play over and over and over like the Jedi Knight II/Academy or KoToR games. If I had to guess why so many people were having issues my first assumption would probably be that they're still using the antiquated Windows XP, as I'm on 7 x64 and aside from 2-3 (game) crashes ever, pre-patch, the game ran pretty much flawlessly. The only things bad about this game were the horrendous wait we had to endure for the PC port and the star destroyer level that ****es everybody off.

To clarify on specs I have: Athlon II 630 (2.8GHz) (at the time of playing I was still running a 1st gen Phenom 920 2.3GHz), 4GB DDR2 1066, GeForce 9800GTX (which is only a fraction more powerful than my previous 8800 GT, and with less RAM; I got it for updated DirectX and built-in HDMI). Not an incredibly expensive setup at all, and certainly not the most up-to-date you could get (I'm still using my old AM2+ mobo, too). You could probably replicate my system, minus the several terabytes of storage drives, for under $500. I have to wonder when I see people crying about how modern games won't run well exactly what kind of old POS hardware they're running? Something from 1995? I've avoided Crysis like the plague (the general consensus seems to be that it's an incredibly ****ty game with incredibly beautiful graphics), but I've often been tempted to check it out just to see if that $500 video card is truly necessary or just hype so nVidia and ATI can rake in the money.

You have to have a really beefy computer to run it. Like Ultra Crysis setting running computer.

Runs fine on mine, max settings at high resolution.

Couldn't really get into the game though, found it a little samey after a while.

I also ran it quite satisfying on my Radeon 4850 rig. The first level with Vader and HDR from hell was the only place I had latency, but once i got past that the game ran decent. This was before the patch. Some mouse/keyboard combos are hard to pull off compared to a controller though.
