Race controllers?

Recommended Posts

If you want it for all platforms you're going to need one of the Fanatec wheels. but noone has a parking/e-brake.

personally I don't see the need for that particular part though as a button does the same job, while gear shift and clutch needs separate controllers if you're going super realistic.

for rally fans, e-brake is a must :D

but there's only rally game which can be called a sim - Richard Burns Rally

umm...apparently you don't seem to realise that rally racers NEVER use the e-brake. If you see one pulling up on what looks like an e-brake, it's really just what's called a "rally braking system" which is a lever to control the brake. This gives more feeling on braking and doesn't require heel-toe. For instance go here: http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog/frame...default_kat=19#

and look at the 3 types of RSD Rally Braking systems.

I am quite familiar with these systems as I used one on my rally car when I was racing.

what?

this is the first time i heard of RSD. really.

but as far as i know, Rally cars have Hand Brake, which obviously locks rear wheels.

i did some googling as you effectively confused me :D

The handbrake is usually an upright lever located close to the steering wheel, and allows negotiation of very tight turns, or "Handbrake turns". When it is used, it automatically disengages the drive to the front wheels, by opening up the Centre Differential to a "No drive" setting to the front, which then directs all the power to the rear wheels, until the lever is released. This allows the driver to execute a perfect " Handbrake turn ", as the rear of the car comes around in a huge 300 bhp power slide. The braking system on a Rally Car needs to be operating perfectly, as a large part of the driver’s confidence revolves around having a great feel in the brake pedal along with highly efficient action.

i never knew the handbrake plays with the differential :o

Hey, that's a feature I didn't know about them either. I had a RWD car so it of course didn't do that. It just acted as a VERY good brake to me.

I have an old Datsun on my yard that still runs. The guy who lived here before jut told us to keep it. I've been considering making it into a rally car for a little while now. Maybe when I get the money to do so.

E-brakes/hand brakes, makes for great fun in icy roads and fun tricky driving.

but it makes for HORRIBLE racing no matter what the turn or type of racing it is.
