Robz
wrong, just wrong! ok let me put it this way....how would you like it if a cat decided it would be "funny" to shave you down to your skin and there would be nothing you could do to stop it? you wouldnt like it would you ######! so how do you explain yourself for doing something like that to a cat and not giving it a chance to run away as your stronger and bigger than it
altezza Veteran Posted June 15, 2003 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2003 I think the cat should be left as it was. I know there is no harm done to the shaved cat but noticed the irregularities.
aem4162
Guys, ya need to chill on shaved cats. No owner or groomer in their right mind would have a cat shaved just for the heck of it. Cats are shaved because some of them have fur that rats up so bad that it starts to hurt the cat. Combing the fur doesn't help because if a cat is sensitive to it NO ONE will get a comb through the fur. Our Big Dust has thick, cottony fur that rats close to his skin and if it's not shaved off the rats will get so big and thick that they can pull the hair out of his fur - it's never gotten that bad and we won't let it. We've tried to comb him but Dusty doesn't let that go very far because it pulls his hair and he DOES draw blood. Big Dust is a big beautiful long hair silver tiger before he's shaved but when dr gets finished with him he has very short whitish fur that makes him feel like a lamb. His fur is shaped a lot like the cat in the pix but Big Dust is such a happy guy that he doesn't let it bother him. He gets shaved twice a year. I'll find a pic one day....:cat:
Mad Panda
Thank you aem for explaining it a little more. I now understand that you need to shave a cat if you have to but i dont see the point in doing it for fun so u can put a couple of photos up on the net for others to laugh at. Keldyn
I'd say the only harm that kitten has endured is the blow to his image... I can just imagine all his kitty friends stirring him up over his wild new haircut :D
aem4162
The idiots who do it for fun need to have their heads cut off. I LIKE to think that Fluffy HAD to get shaved because of rats and the person thought s/he looked cute - which the cat does. I think that kitty has that look on its face normally - some have bright happy faces but others just have a mean look that doesn't reflect what the kitty is really like. My Tinkerbelle and Molly FluffyButt have the meanest looking faces in the world but they are also two of the luvviest cats I've ever had. :cat::wub:

aem4162
So, shaving your cat for fun is bad, but what about feeding your cat fat? Cats don't eat just to eat. They stop when they are full. Maybe that cat has other health problems? We've had 2 cobbies (TJ and Linnie - short round bodies, short thick legs, short thick tail, little round head, next to no neck) who were around 18# each and neither one pigged out. aem4162
kinda wrong, cats are meant to have fur! I know a Cornish Rex who would disagree with you. Rexes(?) have short curly baby fine hair and in Glenda's case she's almost hairless. She's really neat because she's a calico and the calicos are on her skin...she's a beautiful cat. :cat:

Elliott
Even though I think cats are weird and creepy, and dogs 0wn them, I feel sorry for that one. Only the humiliation, not the actual shaving. I understand the shaving.
