Matrix XII
I've been wondering whether Valve would release CS for a current console for years now, I can't believe they haven't. CS on the first Xbox was a success and it was only behind Halo I believe on Live. Why haven't they made this yet, I'm sure companies are still interested in making easy money? Just doesn't make sense to me. What does everybody think?
Jimmy0
I think no, this game is meant for PC.
Ridlas
First of all FPS games are meant for PC's. And the game is like 6 years old, why bother.

Well first of all, he was probably talking about CS:Source. Second, CS has been out for like 8-10 years.
Sethos
First of all FPS games are meant for PC's. Yet they are a 1000% more popular on the consoles, oh the irony. And while I couldn't see Counter-Strike: Source for an example in a retail market, mainly because of the lack of content I could see it hitting Xbox Live Arcade, I would even buy it (Y) Who knows why Valve doesn't see the possible potential, lack of internal interest, no "spare" developers to do it, lack of room in the budget for it etc.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted December 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) PS3 with kb/mouse support is the only way I'd see it working, a controller would be complete fail for CS. Worked fine on the original. Was really successful. Now the 360 controller is as near to perfect as you get, it'd only be better now. ____
Hopefully when HL Episode 3 is done they'll make another Orange Box type bundle and we'll get CS:Source and DoD:Source for the multiplayer component. But who knows when that will be.

What makes Counter-strike different from any other FPS on the consoles, since you oh so desperately need a keyboard and mouse?
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 20, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted December 20, 2009 Just my opinion, I wouldn't want to play CS with anything other than kb/m, much to fast paced for me for a controller.
2xSilverKnight
CSS has been out for 6 years. yeah it's true time goes by so fast. Actually I think it's 5 years. Fall 2004 it was, that's when Half-life 2 came out.

The pace of the game is dictated by the players, if everyone is using a controller the pace of the game is slowed down.

It's still just how I feel, one of those games I'll always prefer kb/m. Don't see any need to jump on me about it, you all know I defend controllers with FPS' with the rabid PC crowd often, but CS is one of those games I'd agree with them would play much better with kb/m. PurePhoenix
Steam sales may be through the roof, but we'll never know - Valve refuses to release figures. That's not proof. Neither site has sources listed in articles =/
Ridlas
Any FPS is better with a keyboard and mouse. Analog sticks have no precision at all.

Nobody is "jumping" you, it's just a harmless discussion. I don't see what makes Counter-strike so special, other than being on the PC for a very long time, thus creating some mental image of the game being impossible with a controller which I'd say is wrongful thinking. Had you played Call of Duty 4 on the PC for years, you'd probably also object to the idea of it being played with a controller yet it worked out just fine, perfectly I'd say. It's all a mental image but yes, I respect your opinion. That's not proof. Neither site has sources listed in articles =/ So you honestly believe the Steam version sales would off-set the low retail PC sales and put the PC version closer to the 10++ Million console sales. You just won't admit these games are more popular on the consoles.

Sethos
More people bought it from steam than from Amazon. Yes, keep telling yourself the PC version sold billions of copies and not that fact that the version is dumbed down in the first place is the abysmal sales of MW1 and this iteration has barely seen a doubling in sales. FPS games are now more popular on consoles, deal with it. Oh and Amazon isn't the only place beside Steam selling the game.
Ridlas
No, you deal with it. Go play with your stupid little analog sticks. FPS games WERE BORN on the PC. Now because most people are too lazy to build a PC worth of playing the game, they find themselves releasing the game on the consoles as well. Thats how it started. Also i hope you enjoy playing against 10 year olds on your xbox live.

Actually it's you that has to deal with it, consoles have spawned millions of teenage crazed FPS droolers that spawn like STDs therefore passing on the trend to their mates. Fact is they all have fun, only thing that is annoying is 90% of them are testertone filled "keyboard warriors" ready to shout abuse/call you names/act like ###### and generally make online play on consoles a chore at times. Which is why I return to some PC favourites like TF2, but the point still stands Sethos is right, the masses are flocking to consoles for FPS for better or worse. It's not to say you can't have an enjoyable experience on a console with an FPS, but the way developers make many of the FPS games don't help either, hardly any focus on team work, it's all about being rambo and raging your face off at teamates for "stealing your kills". Which is why I adore the attempt Zipper are making at MAG, but that game is going to flop silly on a console, the audiences on a console are nowhere near mature enough for such a tactical based game. You'll find such audiences with Socom, but they take it to the other extreme, in that it's unpleasant playing with them unless you're a military trained commando ready to roleplay a real war.
