Counter-Strike PS3 or 360

Where the hell are all these pc zealots coming from recently proclaiming that consoles aren't fit for FPS? It's getting ****ing irritating.

@AB, everyone said the same about UT3 being on consoles and how it wouldn't work being the fast paced game it is. Anyway I know it;s just your opinion, but for the majority it works just as well as pc counterparts.

Counter-Strike wouldn't be nearly as big on the consoles as it's on the PC. It's all about the ridiculous amount of user created mods, maps and gameplays(SURF) that still keep the game afloat. Sure you have the original maps still being played and account for about a quarter of the server list, but it really comes down to the large amount of user created content and the consoles just don't have that freedom.

CS is a classic in the FPS genre and because it's a classic with PC gamers it gets played past it's death. I don't think the consoletards would jump on CS as they would with say modern warfare 2.

I suppose I could say I'm a hardcore PC gamer, but the kb/m vs controller argument is pretty dumb but I see the points people in this thread are making. I played CS for Xbox, I hated the buy menu in it, IMO it was pretty sloppy. Otherwise, pretty true to Condition Zero, but because it lacked the ability to play custom maps it didn't last long.

My .02 cents anyway

P.S. Don't post /v/ rage here.

I agree with what everyone's saying about CS being on the PC, but I'm sure you all remember when it was out on Xbox and had quite a big following.

Even an XBL Arcade DL would probably work to some degree.

Unless they allow the users to mod the game and server rules, it would not be as big of a craze as it used to be or was on pc/xbox. There are much better looking games , games with better hit detection, and whatever already out. What made cs "CS!" was the ability to mod and change and expand on the game. Take all of that out, its sort of a stale shooter. I do love me some cs though. It's always one of my first installs when I reformat lol.

random mods of cs really **** me off.

it is so difficult to find normal servers now, and bugs me no end!

Modern First Person Shooter games are actually meant for consoles. They have adopted.

Big cursors for easier aiming. Everything within the cursor will get hit.

Aiming assistance. This way the console user could just look at the enemy and shoot, his character will aim himself.

Up-close only combat AI. There is no way one could see far on a normal TV, so why should the AI?

etc.

Counter Strike Source does not have the enchantments listed above and therefore it is unsuitable for a console FPS audience.

I've been wondering whether Valve would release CS for a current console for years now, I can't believe they haven't. CS on the first Xbox was a success and it was only behind Halo I believe on Live.

Why haven't they made this yet, I'm sure companies are still interested in making easy money? Just doesn't make sense to me.

What does everybody think?

I had CS on the original xbox because it was the only Live game that interested me at the time (there were very few), I just wanted to see how online multiplayer worked on a console. Halo didn't have Live and CS was a complete failure on xbox IMO, there was hardly anyone playing even when the game was new.

Did you actually play it on xbox? Not sure why you think it had a big following or what you think a big following is.

Actually it's you that has to deal with it, consoles have spawned millions of teenage crazed FPS droolers that spawn like STDs therefore passing on the trend to their mates.

Fact is they all have fun, only thing that is annoying is 90% of them are testertone filled "keyboard warriors" ready to shout abuse/call you names/act like ###### and generally make online play on consoles a chore at times.

...

See, CS:S would be perfect on consoles!

A lot of PC games are dumbed down just so they can port to consoles without upsetting the console crowd too much.

FPS games are so far unmatched on PC. Mouse control gives pixel-perfect precision. The PC hardware allows for nearly limitless graphic and content potential (something else that is usually dumbed down on games that have console releases).

...and the big thing is the ability to modify and expand the game in infinite ways on PC. Something as simple as editing a text file or as complex as installing a "total conversion" mod. Things like "Natural Selection" (mod for the original Half-Life) are simply amazing. Even games like Counter-Strike, which is seen as its own stand-alone game, was still just a downloadable mod for a PC game (Half-Life again). Without the flexibility and power of PC gaming, you wouldn't even have Counter-Strike.

Again, the game companies have to dumb down the content updates they release, just to better align them with console updates. PC users are getting the crappier and crappier releases because everything has to be scaled back to work on consoles.

Look at games like Dragon Age. It would have probably came out earlier, but it was delayed so they could release it on consoles as well. The console versions are graphically inferior still, as well as having more difficult controls (no mouse). And now there are all kinds of user-mods and updates to the game, but only on PC as the console versions can't be expanded the same way. PC users can expand their game and change it all for free. New user skins, armor, storage options, re-specialization mods, and soon new characters, campaigns and quests - all for free.

Consoles are the lowest common denominator in gaming, and are making it worse for PC users. This of course makes easier for console users to say "see, consoles play games just as well as PC!" - well no ****, companies are bringing PC gaming all the way DOWN to your level, because they care more about $$$ than the games! They feel consoles are less of a financial risk (less piracy than PC, etc), so will chisel away at games to make them work on consoles.

10 million Xbox players all playing an FPS doesn't mean anything in regards to quality of a game. It is simply easier and/or cheaper to play. But it is also quiet inferior to the PC version.

It would be like someone claiming their 19" TV with built-in DVD player is SO MUCH BETTER than someone's 42" HDTV with Blu-Ray player and dedicated sound system simple because they can pick up and haul their 19" TV anywhere and watch movies without having to push a lot of buttons or mess with a lot of wires.

That being said, Counter-Strike is pretty darn old (original or Source).

Oh thank god someone posted that picture, i was sitting here going lul wat and raging the whole time, thinking modern warfare 2 sold more on the PC? Jesus christ pull your head out of your ass people. No matter what you think of console gaming it flogged PC sales into pretty much non exhistance.

Its to expensive? To lazy? My HD setup cost alot more then my PC that I built myself and you'l find alot of people on here that built there PC's there self that invest more into there HD setups in there lounge room and prefer console gaming now even when most of us including myself starting playing PC FPS first off, Unreal 1 co-op on gamespy etc.. I now simply prefer console gaming.

As for dumbed down inferior copies half the games are pirated to hell thus why companies go with consoles. PC gamers have brang the downfall on themself and no one else to blame with companies making *** all after piracy then whinging why do they prefer consoles? Go figure. Not to say I never downloaded games before I went console only...

You should just speak for yourself before you accuse other PC gamers of what they "brang" on themselves, after all you just admitted to doing it. Some people have been supporting PC games for a long time. In reality our entire society is getting watered down as people are turned into cows, but there are still good PC games out there and for those that miss the glory days of PC gaming - the best thing you can do right now is support what is left. Blizzard is making a ton of money, Steam is making a ton of money. Even if MMOs aren't your style, Steam has a huge range of games you can get and at MUCH better prices than their console counterparts, usually with much better graphics, much better game play, and especially much better multi-player. A big problem with the overall PC gamer scene is that they bitch and moan and act liked they are getting ****ed when a company tries to make money. Left 4 Dead 2 is a great game, I am amazed at how much they improved it over the original. The graphics are a massive improvement. The game play is more fun, and more challenging in a fun way without god mode AI. The campaigns are longer, much more diverse, and there are 5 of them this time. Yet it's announcement led to massive complaining while the Call of Duty series releases glorified expansion packs just about every damn year and they always get top honors. It's pathetic. If people want PC gaming to stick around, they need to vote with their wallets and BUY the good games that are released. Just because YOU spent a good chunk on your console setup doesn't mean that's what is making the market, all you have to do is play on XBL for a few days and then go and play the same games on PC, it is blatantly obvious that the majority of console gamers are kids who don't earn and buy what they are playing.

I've met some people who've bought really, and I mean really expensive mice and keyboards, just so they would enhance their precision by 0.1 %. And yes, consoles have gotten better, controllers have gotten better, but in a game like Counter Strike, especially in tournaments, cups and matches, people playing with analog sticks would get ridiculed. And shot in the middle of the forehead.
