MS Bob 11
Finally! Someone had to do it! With graphics quality of Windows Vista/Windows 7's Chess Titans and Crafty chess engine power: Chess Giants by Pierre-Marie Baty. It's shareware (and no trial version) though not free. (The author calls it donationware but donationware doesn't force you to donate before using the app but you can donate $0.02 minimum or 0.01 Euro and download). Written in .NET 3.5 and under development. Maybe if enough people donate, he/she might make it free. The graphics are obviously stunning but I dunno about the legal/copyright issues. Download it at your own risk. If you like it, let me know. The pieces aren't exactly as realistic as Vista's version (especially the "Glass" pieces aren't as good as Frosted glass). The animation doesn't play when moving pieces and in 2 player mode the board rotates slowly. Top view is also 3D when it should be 2D. Other than these, a gpod clone. Andre S. Veteran Posted December 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 21, 2009 Awesome! Looks like a worthy competitor, considering the price, to Chessmaster, for those who just want a decent computer opponent. Chess Titans has always been worthless. Chess Titans is ok for playing against other players, though. (and btw love your sig, reminds me of an "If only god implemented IObservable" one I saw a while ago)
