LukeWard7
I have a Belkin F5D8236-4 router and I currently have my PS3 in the DMZ under the IP Address 192.168.2.19. I have set a static IP Address on my PS3 (obviously being 192.168.2.19), yet still my friends cannot join me. Just to test, I got my friend to put his PS3 in the DMZ and set up a static IP, and guess what, we could join each other. If its any help his router is a Netgear DG834GT (given out by Sky). Anybody know why?
DPyro
Port forward instead.
LukeWard7
Done that, doesn't make no difference whatsoever.
kingofthecarts
Maybe a NAT type thing? I had this issue with my old router, I just put a switch before the router and connected my PS3 to it. Most ISP's should give you 2 or 3 IP's? Then you shouldn't have to worry about forwarding ports and can save your DMZ for other uses :)

EddieF
You said you tried port forwarding, did your friend? If it works when he puts his PS3 through DMZ then its his router that is blocking the connection.
LukeWard7
I can see what your saying but its not just my friend who I have trouble with, its ALL of my friends plus random people. For example when I go on FIFA 10 and goto Ranked, 9 times out of 10 the connection fails (can't pick a team and get kicked).
EddieF
Thats strange. What DMZ does is opens all ports straight to your PS3 (bypassing any filters and firewalls in the router.) What settings other people use shouldn't affect you, unless they are having issues connecting to other people as well as you.
LukeWard7
Yeah I know, I even turned my firewall on my router off for 5 minutes to see if that made a difference and it didn't. He is usually able to connect others no problem, but when I finally got a PS3 thats when the problems started for him, which makes me think its my connection because like I said, I can rarely connect to others (espeically on FIFA because its 1 on 1 whereas on COD MW2 there are lots of people)
EddieF
Try taking your PS3 out of DMZ and then enable uPnP if it isn't already (I believe you have to do this on the router and ps.) They may be conflicting
LukeWard7
I've tried that, having the PS3 in the DMZ and uPnP off, and vice-versa and no luck. But when people say enable/disable uPnP should it be disabled on the PS3 or in the router?

I think it would work better if its enabled and not using DMZ
LukeWard7
Thats how it was already set up before I put my PS3 in the DMZ, thats how I came to this situation, uPnP on and nothing in the DMZ. If I were to try it the other way round, with the PS3 in the DMZ, should i disable uPnP in the router aswell as the PS3, or just the PS3?
