So I just played Crysis for the first time.....

No it wasn't, the thing that really irked me was the "bulletproof Koreans"....you could unload an entire shotgun into them at point blank range and they still don't die  and then they kill you in one shot...how is that even remotely fair? but if you get past that, it is quite fun...I like having firefights in the jungle and watching the trees falls down around you :p

What difficulty did you play it on? Did you bump it up? I kept it on normal and while they were slightly tough to take out at times, I honestly never felt once they were to hard to take out, and I played both Crysis and Warhead.

In a weird way the graphics being so good were a disservice to the game actually. People paid so much attention to the graphics they forgot to talk about the fact they are actually pretty damn good games. I thought the Nano Suit was incredibly well done. Crysis is actually more of a sequel to Far Cry than Far Cry 2 actually was, it was Far Cry's spiritual successor so to speak.

Think of Half-Life and it's expansions, it's a standalone "expansion" of sorts that happens at the same time as Crysis but from the perspective of a different character :)

The Suit is useless the shield power-up does nothing, and i only used the jump like once, i used invisibility most of the time because i didn't want the super koreans to shoot me from 2 miles away.

warhead feels a little more fair

don;t get me started on the powersuit koreans

Easy :p it wasn't all the time though, just now and then there would be this one guy that is near impossible to kill. For example, I've been playing it again recently and I was in this village (can't remember which one it was, towards the beginning of the game) full of Koreans and most of them went down little trouble but there was this one guy who I ran up to at point blank range with my shotty, unloaded every shell into him and he just stood there raised his gun and killed me in one shot  I was bewildered to how that happened...still at least it isn't all the time I guess.

Your right, Crysis is an excellence game but I think most people couldn't get over the steep system requirements. Well just like Far Cry 2 I see no connection between Crysis and Far Cry (apart from them both happening on a tropical island of cause) but the difference was Crysis is under a new name and isn't trying to sell itself using the name of it's predecessor. Far Cry 2 (which I also feel is a great game) is trying to sell itself as a sequel to a game it has seaming nothing to do with :s

I just killed 2 koreans by shooting down a tree which then landed on them

I was killed like this once... Dunno if the AI had a clever moment or it was just a bug in their aiming AI but I wondered why their shots miss me... Next moment I heard a tree falling behind me and... well... I was dead.

These are such moments that make me just love Crysis (Warhead) :p

Agree. I hate it when people are just like "OMG CRYSIS SUCKS ITS ALL GRAPHICS" Its like, dude have you even played it or are you just crying that your system can't handle it? Its a damn fun shooter. I've replayed crysis way more than pretty much any other single player fps.

Since he was replying to me perhaps I should ask whether you read my post. I already said the game ran well 90% of it but the game ultimately had parts where it ran like crap. It wasn't consistent. My computer was fine...the game just had performance issues. No other game I know sees it's performance drop to 50% for a single level, none. Maybe for a fight or when a bunch of enemies pop up but not the entire level. Pretty much every review I read of it said the exact same thing too.

Besides I didn't say it sucked, I said it was "ok" but I was disappointed in it overall. FarCry 1 IMHO was a far funner game to play. While I won't claim Far Cry was open ended, it did seem to often give me more choice than Crysis which despite its setting seemed to play out in an extremly linear fashion. I kind of expected to have a bit more room and options from the game.

My comment had nothing to do with your post, and I did not read it. I was simply agreeing with sethos that it was a good game, and commenting on how I see a lot of people say it sucks and has good graphics.

Because the OP mentioned Crysis + Warhead, I'll be replaying it on the hardest mode. :p

I found Warhead to be needing higher requirements than Crysis. I had to set things to Medium settings for Warhead as opposed to Crysis. shrugs.

Grrrr, shame you can't edit the controller layout. Was hoping to mimic the COD button settings but the default isn't too bad. I just don't like scope/shoot being on the same side of the trigger.

Its actually quite hard even on easy

That's mainly because there really aren't many differences on the other difficulties except taking features like grenade indicators, etc away.

Ok apologies. His post quoted mine so I incorrectly assumed it was in regards to mine. Sorry :)

I'm getting confused with my orders - is there a way to review objectives? I'm stuck at some village where the enemy just keeps on coming and I don't really know what I meant to be doing.

Didn't bother getting Crysis when it first came out, because my computer at the time could only play it on low settings. However now my computer can run it on high and so I got it on the weekend deal a few weeks back and I started playing it a few days ago and I'm quite satisfied :) Graphics are (as expected) amazing and it's a pretty decent FPS - definitely entertaining!

^ My friend didn't like the game. He was complaining about the crossfire not accurate and always off by 1cm or something.

I had no problems whatsoever.

Get the game, you'll enjoy it. I loved it.

Crysis 2 is being called as big of a game changer when compared to crysis 1 as crysis 1 was to all other previous games, mostly because the engine is optimized to actually work on normal systems now

WHAT!?

THIS IS MADNESS I TELL YOU!

great game, I regrettably had to cut my Crysis game short though, got to that big ****** on the ship at the end, but my game kept crashing ?Crysis.exe has stopped responding? I figured it was my graphics settings, even though it ran smooth at 1600*1200 all on HIGH with AA off and motion blur off. So, I turned everything down to the lowest, even used a crappy resolution 640*800 or something, just to get past that bit on the ship with the big ass alien, but still kept crashing.

So I sacked it, read a walkthrough to get the story ending, and then started playing warhead! : -)
