dolby71
In a few months I'll be off to a 4 months trip through Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, United States and Canada. I am looking for a good Navigation app for my mac to use whilst in the USA (and possibly Canada) Any ideas on what's a good one? The only ones I know of are RouteBuddy, and Google Earth. I cannot use Google Earth, as I obviously won't have 24/7 on-road internet connectivity... Thanks...
Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted December 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2009 do you have a USB GPS chip?
shihchiun
Look into standalone units (Garmin, TomTom). Even with the additional maps you'd have to buy, it may be cheaper than getting software (and certainly more convenient).
dolby71
Yea, I have some usb GPS chip laying around here somewhere... But maybe I will just use somekind of PDA with iGo. Already have iGo, just need to get the maps.
dewaaz
I've tried all the GPS options and I have to say, iGO is the best hands-down. TomTom for traffic perhaps, but iGO has the nicest looking maps and the best interface! Perhaps get a GPS-enabled phone that is unlocked? If you're going to be putting money down for a standalone, a phone would let you use GPS as well as doubling as - a phone! :o And maybe a second power source to keep in your backpack or whatever. 1 gadget in the hand is worth 2 in the bush :o
