H@tKeysH@@k.DLL

Recommended Posts

hi,

recently I just installed "Trojan Remover" and when I checked it says it found this file that might be a trojan called "H@tKeysH@@k.DLL". I did a search by using the name in Google and it shows several pages which makes me not sure whether this is a trojan or not...

now, i'm using trend micro to scan my pc..hopefully it comes out ok because i know that i've never opened any attachment in e-mails...could it be installed by some programs that i've just installed? but i do have nav 2003 enabled....

any comment/guide/help/links would be helpful....thank you in advance :)

*edit: i just finished trend micro virus scan it says no virus found..is virus different with trojan?

If it has @'s in the filename you can be 110% sure that it is a trojan, spyware... etc.

There is no (sane) programmer that gives his DLL's these kind of names.

Delete it!!

EDIT: You know the story about the Trojan Horse right? Well that is how a Trojan works. It sneaks in like something you could trust and then just sits there on your PC, it can do alot of things then. One example could be that it is sending your keystrokes to someone, or it can open up the ports of your firewall... you name it, it is possible.

A trojan is often a little server and some other idiot is playing with it with his client to control the trojan on your pc.

A virus has no client/server structure. It just invades your pc, and destroys stuff. I think that is the difference between a virus and a trojan. Maybe there are more, but this is what I could think of right now.
