Steam slow?

I guess this is because of all the deals but they really need to improve the servers or at least prepare if they are going to put on all these deals, im getting 100 kb/s on dirt 2 which is 10gb! not fun at all :(

Yeah I bought Trine for my girlfriend and her download speed wasn't very fast either. Fortunately, it was only a 700 megabyte download, so it didn't take as long as your 10 gb would take. :o

I downloaded The Witcher, which is like 15Gb, last night. I was gone all the night so when i came back it was finished but now I can't get

my GTA 4 download to even start. I've tried to download it since wednesday but it says servers busy.

I haven't had any issues. I've downloaded several games and I've always hit my peak speed of around 800KB/s. Yesterday at work I was hitting upwards of 1.8MB/s. Now, I have seen the connections "reset" in that the text changed, not showing a speed or %, almost like you told Steam to download a second item, where the download seems to "stop".

My connection seems to running slow, speedtest reports 2mb on a 20mb connection, i may of hit the cap but thats 5mb, hmm. Ah well i just leave it running and it takes however long it takes a guess.

Yeah it really is about time Steam started investing more in their sever speeds/server numbers to help cope with the amount of sales they get.

Afterall we are paying for using their platform...

I love Steam because I can "in theory" download a game I want without having to buy the disc itself, only problem is when the servers are slow due to being hammered it's easier for me to backup the game on CD/DVD and install it that way, which really goes against the point and convenience of Steam.

Just bought dead space and it is downloading at the incredibly fast speed of 8kb/s yay at this rate DS2 will be out ... How can I claim a refund. at least if I had bought the game on a physical disk it would be installed in 10-15mins tops. Steam and its partners are a pile of w@nk. hell I could code the game quicker than it is going to take me to download it ...
