Cy-Kill
So, what PC game has a lot of explosions in it, I just bought the Logitech X-540 (5.1) on Boxing Day, and I really want to test them out, of course I've got it all setup, but can't really tell if the sound is all over, or not. More or less what I am looking for is a game that will somewhat utilize 5.1 or something close to it.
Lewism
TF2 is a spamfest right now. I have a X-540 system and I can hear it. Be sure to set it up in the game's options.
Cy-Kill
I tried TF2 during the free weekend a number of months ago, played a partial round, quit, and uninstalled it. It won't be touching my PC ever again.

Cy-Kill
I don't have it, and can't seem to currently find a copy for sale, which is weird. I want to get the maximum edition which comes with Crysis & C: Warhead, etc.

Pupik
You don't need a game with a lot of explosions. What you need, is a game that makes a good use of the surround sound. And horror games like Silent Hill Homecoming and Dead Space, are just perfect for that.
Rohdekill
Company Of Heroes. Or, any FP WWII game.

I have Dead Space, unfortunately to play it properly I need an Xbox 360 controller for Windows, trying with the mouse/keyboard is a pain in the a**. Haven't reinstalled it yet, because I am waiting for the Windows version of the controller to go down in price. Company Of Heroes. Or, any FP WWII game. I have BIA: Road to Hill 30, but can't seem to tell if the sound is all around me or not, I've never had a 5.1 speaker setup, this is my first. mokthraka
from a quick google search BIA - Road to Hill 30 This is a WW2 shooter game. The first Brothers in Arms If you like games like Call of Duty series, Medal Of Honor, ..... You'll like this one !!! Nice graphics and sound. Tho...the graphics are not is good as latest Call of Duty games or latest BIA - Hell's Highway Realistic game...nice gameplay options. My 50" plasma screen, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX Graphic Card, 7.1 surround sound, and a lazy chair makes it as real as it can ever get. I wont post a link as I think the site is banned

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted December 27, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 27, 2009 red faction guerrilla As already stated and quoted now, this is the game you want for explosions, although obviously Crysis has them, RFG has setting explosives as a pretty major gameplay element. Cy-Kill
Turns out, I forgot to also set Windows to use 5.1 as well, basically I had a brain fart. Then I remembered I used to play around with SRS Audio Sandbox, but only had it on my laptop when I had one, playing around with it now on my desktop in 5.1 as well, can't really tell the difference between it [sRS Audio Sandbox] and the vanilla sound that Windows produces with the soundcard. Zain Adeel
watch movies.. u can repeat a part to judge the sound quality. and i think the default drivers for ur 5.1 soundcard will set everything for u. Red Faction has a bug with 5.1 audio.. i had to play it in 2.1 to fix the HISSING:. anyhow.. why not listen to some classical acoustic music? ive always thought the best speakers are those that if u close ur eyes u feel someone playing the instrument in ur room.. and my BOSE acoustimass do that pretty well :) but i got 3.1 and busted a speaker so now its just 2.1 :(
Berserk87
Another for red faction. Just got the game a couple of days ago, it's awesome, lots of explosions and you can destroy EVERYTHING.

I will eventually get a better soundcard, maybe something by Auzentech. The keyword about your speakers is 'BOSE', they are a lot better than anything Logitech can make. Digitalx
Creative CMSS with creative cards makes music movies and games play in full sound from all speakers. Just be careful when buying card it has vista/7 support unfortunately i'm stuck with low end p.o.s which is locked and can only do 2.1 under vista and 7 - thanks creative <_<
